Acrylic on top of case

hey guys

as some of you know, I've got a new project in the works: "Project Leviathan".

Now, I've kinda butchered the top of the case in such a manner that i can't simply cut it neatly so the rad can sit snugly.

I am thinking of the following to remedy the situation:

This is what it's like now:

(due to the lack of masking tape, double sided had to do for this excercise).

Where the pencil line is, I intend to have this cut, then apply some translucent black acrylic (think heavily tinted window) across the entire top of the case.

This way the acrylic would cover the top of the case but also leave room for the rad to be put in via the hole that was cut previously.

now my questions are as follows:

1. Is this a good idea? (I thought of mesh, but that would look butt ugly).

2. Rivets or Screws to tighten down the acrylic?

3. Would 1mm acrylic hold a 360mm rad? or should i go for 2-3mm?

4. Do you think case handles would benefit this heavy case? Both in the aestetical point of view and the functional.

RE #4:

case handles something like this:

If i'm doing rivets, i think the recessed case handles could look rather 1337, especially if i space the rivets out so they surround the acrylic. (Black rivets?).

Any input would be fantastic.

I myself reckon,

Cut out the top, leaving enough room on both sides for some nice handles but in between them put some smoked acrylic.

Just a thought. Check out my rig now , "Project Fresh"

(im just about to update it now)
