A little out of date

i'm using an HIS 5770 and MSI Afterburner works perfectly with it, voltage tweak and all :)

£114.99 off eBay

got an Arctic Cooling heatsink on it and it's super cool and overclocked a fair bit

runs Bad Company 2 like a dream

yeah i thought afterburner was a well known app

you can overclock in Catalyst Control Centre however voltage tweak is unavailable

Use afterburner to run at startup and disable CCC and all your problems will fade away :)

got 950 core clock and 1310 mem clock

shader is locked to be linked with core

i'm a nub at OCing so this is probably not the best overclock you can get but its not bad

thanks for everones help

seems as though i will be purchasing the Vapor-x, however its currently out of stock :'( they have 300units of the cu core and none of the sapphire card x(

Nice goran, what kind of temps are you getting on load and idle?

I bought the 5770 Vapor-X, and I must say it's a really nice card. It's really quiet, even when playing games like GTA IV en BC2 the fan doesn't noticeably spin up. However! If you can get the MSI 5770 Hawk I would get that one, as it cools better and has the voltage tweaking bit. It's a better overclocker.

Just when I thought I made my mind up a different card is introduced :P

I will look into MSIs version of the card now

anyone second killablades recommendation?

I think im going to stick with the vapor-x tbh, as after looking into the MSI 5770 Hawk I find that it only has 1 DVI port :o. pretty disappointing tbh as this card is more expensive then the rest of the cards; i thought it was a standard thing to have 2 DVI ports nowadays

the hawk concentrated more on cooling than anything so that maybe why it has one dvi port, the vapor is a good card

i get 37 idle and around 69 (hehe) whilst folding/load

not bad temps, pretty quiet too

if i unplug the fan while folding it goes to... over 90. so don't do that hahahahha

Well tried to order the vapor-x but its still out of stock, I was finally able to get through to their live support after the 9th attempt over the last 3 days to ask when could i expect the product in stock

The reply i got was its been discontinued..... *RAGEEEE*

I asked why it was still on the site advertised then, and he apologised and said the supplier no longer stocks them blah blah..... :(

nice temps and wow I would never risk cooling my gfx card passively lool

thanks everyone for the help, reps for all and ill post temps and what what im able to clock my card at as soon as I get it :)

*edit* crafty buggers. That's a 5750. False advertising in google FTL. Leave it with me I shall continue to search :)

I assume you are in the U.K yes? If so let me share my secret for buying.

Put what you are looking for into google (IE - 5770 vaporx or vapor-x)

Hit search. At the top looking for shopping and click it. Then sort by price low to high. I immediately found this.

REMOVED LINK BY ME :)

Now I admit I did have to sift through some crap (out of stock, advertising pre VAT so they get to the top of the list) but I am sure you'll agree £127 is not a bad price, not bad at all.

I use the above technique to pretty much buy everything. Just be careful to sniff out the company you are buying from a little to make sure they are U.K based though and have some reviews behind them. Yoyotech are a massive company and one that is safe to buy from.

Also.

I have used that company time and time again and only had a problem with a graded 280GTX. Once you have your card you can simply warranty it via XFX. I have to say they are the cheapest for the 5770 as that is where I got mine from. They're not VaporX though.

Here we go. I have never used this company so be warned. What I would do is google the company name, run the name through a DNS lookup and so on. Use a credit card incase something goes wrong and you should be fine.

I used to live close to there many years ago. Shipping is around £7 so works out a good price.

i used your google shop method once to buy a 780i motherboard that was supposed to be 180 but for some reason this website sold it for 120

as soon as i bought mine they put the price up to 180 hahaha

tbh mate i think any 5770 will work great for you, just depends on the cooler. maybe get the cheapest you can find and buy an aftermarket cooler like i did with my Arctic Cooling jobby

Years ago I scored a FX5900 in the first week of release for $120. The usual price at the time was $499. It actually arrived too. That was the only reason I did not go with the ATI 9800. Even better though was that it was a BFG with a great cooler so the power color bios flash was simple and easy and I ended up with a 5950u.

In the U.S it is law that if you advertise something you MUST sell it for that price. They can't wriggle out of it like if they mess up over here (with the obligatory apology email). That's simply BS.

I remember walking into Wally World once (Walmart) and they had Brahma boots (my pa in law used to wear them for asphalting, they're kinda like fake cats) for $15 a pair (usually $50 or so). He took four pairs to the counter (hey may aswell) and they tried to charge him $200. All he did was take the girl at the checkout by the hand to the display where they had $15 in massive numbers above them and sure as eggs 4 pairs for $60 :D
