Not sure if any of you have seen this, or if it was an April fools joke. But I have seen images floating around over the weekend of the 900D in beige. Personaly I think it looks great, at last something to put those Noctuas in, to do them justice. What do you think.

Pretty much a confirmed April Fool's joke; I mean come on they put a floppy drive into the thing.

That said it gives an insight into what a white one may look like if they ever made it, a 900D dressed like a 600t white could look pretty sweet.

lmao. i never understood why beige was once the standard color, it always looked like shit and painting them black isn't that expensive either.

In the 80s when they were first used for IBM machines office decor and pretty much all house decor consisted of shades of brown and beige. Having a black box in a beige office wouldn't have fitted in too well. Desks were also wood grains and so on, no black or trendy colours.

As much as I hate to say it we have Apple to thank for changing that.

Love it......... Id have one anyday

Also keep in mind that most of the PC's back then were on your desk and even though I doubt I'd have any problems with it, I can imagine quite a few people would not find it very nice to have a big black box right in front of their eyes for their entire work day.

If you're already stuck in a cubicle far away from any windows you probably don't want half your desk covered in something which sucks up a substantial amount of the little light you have left

But yes, pastel colours were default config for many offices and homes back then, so beige fit in much better anyway.

It doesn't really look all that beige though, more egg-white-ish. At least from the picture I have to say I don't totally despise it

A couple of years ago I won an original Alienware case on Ebay. Basically a Chieftec Dragon with ALIENWARE down the front.

I fully intended to paint it beige and fit Noctua fans before heavily modding it for cable management and calling it "Retroware".

Sadly the Ebay seller was deadbeat and I never received it (won it for £5 with no side panels but had a Dragon lined up).

Do you no what, I can feel my next project coming on, " Retroware " I like that. All beige and brown, maybe throw some in some dark blue, just to break it up a bit. It would need to be in an old school chassis, or something full of plastic.

Well I admit I do have a soft spot for beige cases. Mostly because they remind me of happy times building and upgrading my first PC :)

Started out with an Intel SX25 386 and stepped up to the mighty DX266 66mhz 486

Had to mod my case with a jigsaw too :D
