7950 DD temperature woes

im running 2 of the same cards in crossfire

recently finished upgrading my system (made the switch from AMD to intel) also started to dabble in the eyefinity scene, amazing for driving games i will admit.

my temps are....... very high to say the least,

i choose the 7950 DD as they were A, one of the cheaper 7950's and B got good reviews for how cool they keep the card.....

my problem now is that when run in crossfire my top card will hit temps of 92 - 100c and the temperature sensor on my seccond GPU doesnt even seem to be working!

my case is a corsair 650D, whilst not the most amazing case in the world in terms of temp, i wasn't expecting temps to be this high! what would your suggestions be?

first off running multiple monitors on one card will help them get warm faster. what slot spacing do you have on your mobo???

I have the XFX Double D in my rig (single atm) and temps are very nice as well as fan noise. (still plan on water cooling them) 62c when gaming with a 62% fan speed.

that surprises me cause I find mine alot better than my 6950's for noise and temps. But knowing Tom he has tested many of them and knows what he's on about. I may of just gotten a lucky one lol. ATM mine is sitting at 35c idle with 20% fan speed. If I was to start up a BF3 gaming session she gets warmer and a tad louder (nothing harsh) I'd say after 30-45 mins she peaks out at 62c at 62% fan speed. I'm going to get another one when I get my refund from newegg for my failed FM2 setup I was going to play with. Both APU and Mobo were defective according to both AMD and Gigabyte. Anywho I want matching cards so I'm getting another 7950 Double D and when the tax man pays me I'll be getting them under water proper with FC EK7950 blocks

Those temps are super high. 100C may not be withing dangerous levels, but it's pretty abnormal, and not healthy for the whole rig. The heat that could spread inside will warm up with a few C other components that are not that heat resistant, not to mention shorting the life of the card itself. Be careful.

running 3 screens and 1 card, i get 67c idle temps @50% fan speed, NOT quiet... this is the first xfx product i have bought, and will no doubt be my last. (same goes with my asrock motherboard)

[crossfire i run in slot 1 and 4, so thats a 1 PCI gap between the cards, more than i had when i used to run 2x5870's!]

the only advice i have been given by them now is that its my windows. this is after replacing thermal compound fresh drivers 4 times, beta drivers ETC. not to mention how sarky they are with replies as if i have done all this on purpose.

Welcome to multiple monitors.

I run 2 screens off my 480 1920x1080 and 2560x1600, it idles at 36c, but without my coolers, the stock HSF would idle it at 65c.

This happens on any GPU.
