780 vs 780 GHZ

£50 for a back plate :o

You can just OC it to 1GHz.

Personally I'd stick with the non GHz and save some ££ and get it sooner :)

Also, personally... I'd 100% get this over the 2 of them >LINK<

I've heard the 290x might actually be worth it with a After market cooler since it does beat the 780 in most games. Also is there any speculation on the 780TI price?

290x is not worth it unless you don't mind noise and temps, for what 10% more performance over a 780, yeah out the box it is faster but try OC that baby, it is already melting and screaming. OC a 780 to surpass the 290x and stay cooler, quieter and get better quality.

I think the 780ti price will fall between the £500-550 mark.

Reason to get it? and also i've heard the inno3d warranty is very bad.

The issue with the 290x is heat. Pure and simple.

At stock it beats the 780, however the 780 runs cooler. Therefore it has more overhead room to be overclocked. If you are not in the business of overclocking this shouldn't be an issue if you are you have two options available to you.

Purchase the 780 non GHZ version or wait at least a few more weeks until more news gets released about after market coolers for the 290x.

As for 780TI I can't help you there. Hope my in put helps.

Haven't people been able to OC the 290x under water? Also lets all not pass judgement until we've seen the card with an aftermarket cooler. The stock cooler is utter bum and you shouldn't buy the 290x at the moment. Wait until after Christmas then you'll be spoilt for choice :D.

Under water, yes I'd overclock it but I think we are just talking about using the stock coolers here :)

Also, OP if you do plan to W/C then get the 290x, if you don't plan to O/C and just want the best performance from a card you want to plug in and leave then get the 290x ^_^

780 GHZ edition is basically a binned 780 meaning they have a higher out of the box clock, I have my 780's running at 1.20 GHZ, You do not need a GHZ edition it is just a marketing ploy.

I will overclock any card i get as much as i can.

If i wanted a decent watercooling setup for the cpu and gpu what price would i be looking at?

Just checked, GPU block, CPU block, 360mm rad, 240mm rad, res, pump, fans, fittings, tubing, coolant about £400. I'd personally not have a 290x on the same loop as my CPU unless I went with some seriously thick rads.

All four of my 290Xs are very good overclockers and have lots of headroom, 1200/1625 is easy in most things and they are still on air. When overclocked they don't get too hot either with the fans turned up.

The downside is the noise but I will put this right soon when I fit my waterblocks.

Unless you're in the business of overclocking - which we kinda should be @OC3D.

Stock it is faster. Stock 290x vs stock titan it is faster. Aftermarket coolers would help the OC'ing potential since many of them are not highly binned chips. But OC'ed 290x vs OC'ed Titan is when we should really compare them.. we will have to wait and see.

Good to know :)

This is an overclocking thread and people are dismissing the 290x because of a little heat? Really, is that a joke? I guess we should also dismiss the 4770k.

How's overclocking on the 4770k with an OEM Intel cooler and thermal paste going for you? :P

Also a few articles are circulating about 780 TI benchmarks but from what I've seen they all look like garbage. But then again most benchmarks are garbage regardless.

If that's what you got from what I said, I am sorry to tell you my comment went miles over your head. :D
