I can live without AA and playing at high setting.

Between the 670 and 7970 which will be better for games? I am getting both at the same price.

I believe the AMD cards perform better at the higher resolutions - Check the reviews of the cards here on OC3D mate.

with high resolutions its all about vram,

you probably could but you'll have to turn some settings down and probably no aa at all

If it's only temporary then you should be fine.

Overclocking the card may help a little with frame rates if things do start to get choppy, not sure if it already is though

yes they are the same and perform really well. 2gb vram is way better than the 1gb the 6870 has though and will give better overall performance at that high res. Since it is temporary i could stand playing it. the 670 will do me really good i think.

you'll probably have to play at medium settings with no AA to get a playable frame rate (above 45- 50 fps).

I would be more worried about what whether that monitor you are getting will work and if it does what features were removed. Also you better get the 4gb 670. the 6870 will struggle quite a bit.
