So guys i just got my 6800K installed in a new MSI x99 Raider board. working on the overclock now. wondering what a "safe" voltage is for this cpu? i got it to 4.4 @ 1.35v so far, 1 hour OCCT test stable, but i really dont know the "safe" voltage range for this chip. Any advice, thanks in advance!

1.35V is safe, but its not good for your CPU over time. Keep playing with your bios and tweak it so you can lower it as much as possible. 4.4 @ 1.35V is not a very good overclocker if that is your best attempt so far. (unless you just aimed for this as a starting point and can easily bring it down further)
Patience is a virtue and the sheer options you have in the bios now is what makes it fun. There are plenty of people here who will assist. TTL included, and as far as I am aware, he was going to update the overclocking guide.
That being said, I don't think there is anything wrong with using the current one as guidance.

I prefer to run mine @1.2v 24/7 and just overclock it as and when needed.
I found once you get to 1.35v there is not much point going higher as there is no more performance to be had.
Having said that every CPU is different.
The one thing they have got in common is they need good cooling for overclocking over extended periods.

well it started crashing lastnight, had to bring it to 1.370 to get it stable at 4.4. temps were in the low 60 range during testing. Using a Noctua NH-D14. brought it down to 4.2 @1.3V for the moment. will have to play with the bios more the weekend when i have time to spend on it. Thanks for the answers guys!
4.4 is a very nice clock for one of those tbh. Id be surprised if you found 4.5 without a shedload more volts (if at all)
im excited to have a day off this weekend to get to play with it. only got 1 8GB stick ddr4 2400 in it now, 3 more in the mail on the way. im going to play with it at 4.4 then and see if i can get it stable with 32GB ram.
I thought reaching 4.4 was quite normal to achieve for a 6800K but having to pump 1.35V or more to achieve it was the issue.

is there official information regarding max voltage?
if there is i have not found it. However, Tom did not blast me for using 1.36V, so i must not be going stupid high?

It is a bit too high for 24/7 use.
Bring it down to 1.3v and be kind to your CPU and elec bill.
You gain hardly anything in mhz and performance by running 1.36v all the time. You may even lose performance where the CPU will throttle due to excess heat.
