The point I'm trying to make is, there's no point in recommending a rig that's £100+ over budget. The budget is £600, £100 For an OS. I know that that £500 These days is nothing, and that he/she could do a lot better with more, but that's what the thread maker has to spend, so suggesting parts that are over budget is pointless.
I'm not sure why you are being so rigid. Good advice is to wait a bit longer and save up the extra and go with the Z77 / 7870 LE rig.
I think you will find that's why so many people are agreeing with that.
And in all honesty, I know I talk a lot, so please do forgive me if I'm being rude, but I can't quite understand your logic. You said an i3 is "Bests suited to a 7850" I'm not sure I follow you.. Would you explain? How are you thinking that an Intel Core i3 3220/3225 CPU is going to hold back a 7870 GPU?
A I3 will hold back a 7870 LE, yes. The 7870 LE is a high end very fast GPU and in gaming most if not all of the new games support 4 CPU cores. The I3 has two with Hyperthreading which is no substitute for four physical cores.
Core count can be offset by high clock speeds but there isn't an I3 on earth that can be overclocked that fits in a 1155 socket. Given how lame the core speeds are on the I3 chips I can assure you that when you start playing games that are very CPU intensive it will stop the 7870 LE from stretching its legs.
Hence why I said that the 7850 was a good card to pair up with the I3 as then you can wring every bit of performance out of both. That's opposed to putting a high end powerful GPU with a mismatched CPU like the one you are advising he get and then seeing the GPU suffer because of it.
The fact that you seem to be the only one suggesting that system speaks volumes. It's probably because you know? every one else has a good valid point and you are quite possibly wrong.
