500gb Momentus XT

This thing is amazing. For those unaware this is the HDD with the 4gb SSD cache. My Velociraptor has NOTHING over this drive! My boot time is 8 seconds faster than my VR making my boot time 21 seconds FLAT! My games load 2x faster over my VR and everything FLIES. If you are in the market for a faster HDD that is ALMOST as fast as a SSD (About 20% slower than standard SSD) and 2 to 3x faster than a VR, THIS IS FOR YOU! HIGHLY recommended.

How long does your battery last?

On a side note, I use an SSD for Windows, the only game I have on is Crysis 2, the rest is on the storage drive (5400rpm), when I join a server or game, I usually load the fastest, and beyond that there is no point trying to speed it up except for single player game levels

Also there is more to an SSD than just the write and read speeds, the latency is far, far lower, and of course the Momentus XT will have a lot lower latencies.

I have had a few in the passed. I would get an SSD 32 or 64 gb and then the next day realize that it was not that smart of an investment. THEY ARE GODLY fast though. But at $2.50 a gig, not entirely worth.

my battery lasts about 4 hours, its an 4 year old toshiba laptop lol

Nowadays you can buy laptops that have two 2.5 inch slots, one for SSD and the other for a storage HDD. But for those that only have one 2.5" slot, i think the momentus XT is perfect and it offers the best of both in a way, SSD like speeds without compromising on storage space.

I'll be looking to upgrade other laptops in my house with the Momentus XT

I'm testing something similar, the SilverStone HDDBoost, which uses an SSD and a HDD.

Works pretty well so far. One or two issues to work around.
