5.2Mhz Reached with my 3570K

I don't think it's the same with GPU, as they actually seem to run tests on mine when I last did it, and the GPU load went right up.

Haven't been able to do it, as I was busy assembling flatpack furniture. Ikea have a lot to answer for.
I shall give it a go tomorrow, as I shall be left in the house alone. Need to put the PC downstairs where it's coldest, wire all my fans up for 12v and pray to Zeus that tomorrow won't be a hot day. Then we'll see how things go :)
Shall be sure to post in here the results of my activities.

You won't have me praying for cold on my last day of summer :D

Well, if these past few days have been anything to go by, I should be fine. The outside temps haven't been too bad, but my house has been freezing. It's been great :D
I much prefer the cold to the stifling heat, and i'm happy to say that my PC agrees with me.

good old old British winters and my flat, best mix for overclocking down here, till then i am thinking of an LN2 build for this chip :o

You've really taken a shining to this overclocking business, eh? :)
As far as I know, as soon as you move into the more exotic methods of cooling, overclocking starts to get more complicated, even for a simplistic chipset such as Z77.
Also, some chips outperform others at certain clocks, but then fall behind at different stages. For example, James' 3770k is able to be stable at 4.5GHz at lower volts than mine, and yet I can get to 5GHz with fewer volts than his.
I'm not wanting to put you off experimenting, as i'd love to if I had the money, I just want you to thinking about this a whole load before you jump the gun with LN2.

In fairness i have been overclocking since my first PC way back when. i was 16 and still doing it now at 30, normally i get a good clock and leave it at that and carry on play my games, never had a chip that was worth anything. Other m8 always seem to get them, when i final moved over the the 3570k it felt like a good chip which is why the first post was put up, little did i know it was a bit of a gem! guess you could say this chip has re awakened the overclocked in me to see what i can get, not just a good stable clock for gaming :)

LN2 is a bit of a pipe dream, but it nice to dream big ;) the misses already wants to kill me on my hardware costs....lol

My apologies; I should not have made such a presumption.
And well, the best dreams are the big ones, right? If you have the funds to delve into the murky waters of LN2, then I say go for it. But, not before you read into it more. I know that there are a whole host of features that our motherboards offer that, at modest clocks, have no business being tampered with. I think they come into play more when you reach for the hardcore clocks.
Perhaps it would also be good for you to join OC3D's benching team :)

No need to buddy no offence was take in anyway :) also I am new to the forum so some presumption Is natural I would love to join up not sure if I have the time in fairness as tournament paintball and archery take up all my free time between jobs and of course my lovely girlfriend :)
