4770K Overclocking issues (Keep getting BSODS)

Just brought my 4770K back out of my box of goodies to give it a go and I never once got to 70c when stress testing with XTU usinpost my H100 to cool the CPU. So either I have a very cool CPU, the OPs CPU mount is poor or he has a very hot CPU. I would be more willing to believe the mounting issue as there isn't a chance in hell that the cooler difference accounts for a 20c core temperature variance. Also I was running with the CPU core at 1.33V and I'm running 200MHz faster than the OP so if anything I should be running hotter.

Thanks for the input. I am going today to buy new thermal paste and some isopropanyl for cleaning. So will try it later. I am usually hitting around 70-80. I post tonight if something hasachanged :)

Clocks mean nothing. Its all about the voltage really.

What do you mean by this?

Okay, I have no re-applyed thermal paste. Dont know if it takes some time for it to settle. My idle temps now are 25-30. So same as before.

Should I start stress test directly or wait some time?

Depends on what thermal paste you're using ;)
Sometimes the paste cools better over time, but it's not a big difference. You can run the stress test directly, if you want.

Good, because running it now :P
Temps are the same, 68-75 degress during stress test. I dont think its higher than normal? Pretty good temps I would say. And I dont think that my overclocking is due to high temps either. Must just be a shitty cpu.

I'm sorry to hear that, I indeed think you had bad luck with your cpu :(
