9900k Settings

Hi all,

It's been a while... But I'm back having finally upgraded from my Devil's Canyon setup to a 9900k. I've noticed that is has become very quiet in this overclocking sub section...

My setup is now:
9900k
Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro
2x 8GB 4133MHz Patriot Viper RGB (running at 2666mhz , 15, 17, 17, 35, 1.2v whilst I tune the cores)
Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 980ti
Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 512GB (Windows) and 1TB (Games)
2TB Western Digital Green drive (storing stuff)

Cooling wise my cpu and gpu are both on custom water.

So I'm just getting around to testing the overclocking. As expected the heat density is pretty rough, especially with AVX. Prime95 with AVX2 is a bit over the top, causing throttling on default settings! So I'm using Intel's Diagnostic Tool for quick tests and RealBench for longer loops. Also keeping an eye out for WHEA in HWinfo64. Anyone using different stress testing software with a better balance of results?

Settings so far:

Multiplier x50 on all cores.
Vcore 1.31 with LLC on Turbo (produces a load Vcore of 1.308-1.320)
Peak temp on RealBench is 98C.

EMC, Turbo Boost, EIST, Speed Shift, C states, Ring To Core, EIST, RTH, Energy Efficient Turbo, Voltage Optimization all disabled.

What are other peoples' experiences of clocking it? Seems that many put more power through theirs than I do but I can't see how they'd avoid throttling. Maybe I need a new CPU block! Next thing I might do is AVX offsetting.

Cheers

Unless your chip is golden and runs at very low voltage then temps are a problem for pushing higher, I had to delid mine and go direct die to push 5.1.
