3770k overclocking H100

Who here in these forums have overclocked the 3770k with the H100 cooler?

What were you best overclocks?

How much faster was it compared to the 2600k at the same clocks?

And what were your temps?

Sorry to ask but was your i5 2500k stable for a 24/7 use and was it done with a H100 ;]

Yea. I use a 4.6ghz 24/7 clock and cooled by the H100. But I am thinking about Ivy and sort of gotten over the terrible TDM. I am looking for the memory support as well as the PCI 3.0. Ya also have to remember I am using an i5, and have been looking at the i7's but I am not sure I want to get a 2600k instead of a 3770k.

KoS, whats this? dumping SB? huh?

since you have the support on GEN3 why look to the SB? swing for swing the IB benches

better, but in real world usage.. i wouldn't think you'd know the difference other than your

wallet is lighter... but jumping from i5 to i7, yes there is a fractional difference. 80sec on

video render difference. dunno if the gaming part is noticable but maybe 5fps? maybe more

on CPU intensive gaming. wow looking onward... i'd wait for haswell platform or the x79.

I am waiting for haswell but that is 2011 socket so it is not really relevant here (no offence) I will be getting haswell when the time comes, but I want the best for my current 1155. I just want to know what the results will be. I have so many motherboards both still in box and not opened to used and a few CPUs laying around. I am looking for a hyper threaded CPU I am just comparing the 2600k vs 3770. I can get the 3770k for just $20 more through a friend.

I haven't got an i7 but most reports and threads I've read about say that you should be getting 4.5/4.6 on a 3770k with H100 running around 1.275v. Whether the 3770k is better than a 2600k at 4.8 is really another question to be honest. Some rendering benchmarks seems to prefer Sandy, some prefer Ivy. I don't think it will make any difference tbh.

Methinks - go for Ivy if you want pcie3, full RAM slots and less power consumption, otherwise go Sandy.

In my opinion you should get ivy because clock per clock is 10-20% faster than sandy !! When it comes to oc with ivy you are going to hit a limit at around 4.8ghz whereas with sandy you are going to get a more eye-pleasing 5ghz !!!

Hope this will help you make the right choice !! :-)

Sorry dude you have to take into consideration that 5ghz on sandy needs a lot of volts and from what I read noone recommends it !!

I do't use 24/7 5ghz I use it for benching. Also I hit 5ghz with 1.42v which is EXCELLENT not perfect but darn neat a perfect chip. my 24/7 clock is 4.6ghz with only 1.38v.
