Hi, I've got a nvidia 7600gt running in my system at the moment and was thinking of 'beefing' it up a bit.

Problem is I only have a 300w psu. Been thinking about a radeon 5670 , as it seems to be the fastest card

with no additional power connectors ie; 75w max. what do you think , have heard some say it will run on 300w.

I did not know you could still get 300W PSUs. Have a look here it may help

Go for branded PSUs, the no name Aria's own brand ones will be awful, the corsair ones will be good.

Tom's testing the Mushkin ones right now. The one with the special flakes reflective gray is absolutely beautiful. Check them all out, matey.

but I'm on a 'strict' budget so as cheap as poss.

Don't suppose anyone has a spare 450w psu for sale?

mobo asus a8n-vm

ram 4gb DDR

OS Windows 7 home premium

CPU Athlon 64 x2 3800+ @ 2.0ish

psu 300w (mesh computers)

GPU Nvidia 7600gt slightly oc(riva tuner)

HDD Samsung spinpoint f3 500gb

a basic PSU will do for that card. this is the best i found for cheapest/quality: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/240998 going with many's advice, this is made by a very good manufacturer. i posted about this at the bottom of this message

i searchd 500W PSU at ebay for £0-£35. this is ok with free delivery: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CIT-500W-Gold...omputing_PowerSupplies_EH&hash=item2a0b290ad4

its's from a retailer so it should have a warranty. if your interested send a message to the seller for the warranty info. you need an ebay account to do that.

search at internet retailers like ebuyer, scan, overclockersuk, aria, amazon etc

i see the 5670 doesn't need external power. it powered from the motherboard. the PSU i suggested has a 6 pin PCIE power connector to be used for more power hungry graphics card, when the motherboard supply isn't enough

ebuyer has this and they'll charge for postage and it doesn't have a 6 pin PCIe connector: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158481

stuff from ebuyer has 1 years warranty minimum

or http://www.ebuyer.com/product/119227 it has a PCIe power connector

or http://www.ebuyer.com/product/219540

this'll make the electricity bill cheaper: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/151287

this too makes the electricity bill cheaper compared to the others and this is the best overall: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/240998 there is 1 of these for about £1 cheaper, it's exdisplay and it doesn't have the full warranty so don't get that, buy it new
