£300 gamer build, will this do it?

Some videos that helped me out when I was in need; http://www.youtube.com/watch?annota...&feature=iv&src_vid=lPIXAtNGGCw&v=d_56kyib-Ls
When you're done with that one, watch part three also :)
As long as you're slow, thorough, patient and use common sense, you shouldn't go wrong.

All screws and motherboard headers are included, and thermal paste is indeed provided with the CPU cooler. I doubt it's the best, though, so it may be worth picking up some Noctua NT-H1.

Used that same Newegg guide for my first build, it's very thorough and they cover everything. And don't worry! Putting everything together is a lot easier than you would think.

Thank you very much. What about regarding the rams? Will they simply run 1333mhz on the mobo even though theyre 1600mhz?

Yeah, should do. The RAM was just so god damn cheap, it seemed too good to resist :)

Awesome man. I did try to find an HD 6850 but seems Aria dont sell those anymore (saw in some benchmarks it did better at around the same pricerange), but i'd have to pay £110 on a different website cus of shipping, oh well, this system is enough for her needs! :D

THANK YOU!

Yeah, the 77** series aren't the best of the new generation, but they're more than enough for what you need. And for £300? - bargain!
Best of luck, my friend - be sure to tell us how it all goes, and how she finds her new machine :)

I just think it's funny that you're building her a machine before you build yourself one. Get on that!

I have a machine. :P
E8500 @ 3.64ghz, 8gb ram and a 295gtx. I figured mine was getting outdated, then I ran Arkham City with maxed settings on my 1900x1200 resolution and everything ran perfect. Sure, its DX9, but I havent experienced any different so that doesnt bother me, and aslong as it runs demanding games like that without hesitation im not gonna invest.

I also havent mentioned my girlfriend lives abroad, flight tickets arent cheap these days, and she comes first. :p

good luck with the build!
Thank you.

I will report when I have done it. But im not visiting her before a week or two, and then I get to it.

Yeah good luck man :) The gx 295 is still a pretty good card

Yea, pretty badass considering its age.

Did you get the 295 when new?! That must have cost loads D:

Yep, I did. Before it I had a 8800GTS. I still have the online confirm from overclockers when I bought it along my monitor.

NEC MultiSync 24WMGX3 Professional Gaming 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor: £356.51 (back then, the pricetag for this monitor in my country was the double!)
Gainward GeForce GTX 295 1792MB GDDR3: £324.34

Those were different times, when I didnt have a gf abroad. ;)
I guess it couldnt have turned out much better though. Considering I dont have money to upgrade my own system, its good I decided to return the 285gtx and get the 295gtx, as the extra power seems to still be kicking butt and I dont have to replace it anytime soon... For my DX9 needs at least. :D

And to think, she's getting a computer for as much as a 295

Haha yea. :D
But I guess it really was cheap for a top-of-the-line card. Todays top of the line... Well, looking on Overclockers I see the cheapest 690gtx is £839 ...on sale! Thats just insane!

I remember it was back when I made £950 for two months, working the grocery store (so £1900 total...) Good, yet boring worktimes.
Anyway, I will post result and pictures in a few weeks when I have built it. :)

I have just been in contact with Aria who says they wont be getting the HD7770 back in stock, but will get the OC edition in stock tomorrow. Unfortunately, the ram came in stock today, meaning it probably is my last chance today if I want the pre-order price.

The only other gpu that fits into my budget from Aria is HD7750 OC 1gb. Overclockers also have an HD6750 and HD6850, although these pop for around £100-110.

What would you suggest? I really wanna avoid a noisy card, I get the idea an OC card is more noisy than usual. Should I get just a 6750/6850?

Yeah, i'd snap that ram up while you can. 8GB of 1600MHz ram for £30? AND it looks good?! Madness.
As for the graphics card, the 6000 series weren't quiet cards, dude. Although, I can't speak about the noise levels of the other cards.
OCd cards do not have to be noisier than usual, it just depends on the fans they use.
