First Build

How's this then?

How solid and "upgradeable" is this? Do you think I have a good three/four years on this with the occasional upgrade?

Get a 7850 instead of the 6970.
Try and get slightly better RAM (1600mhz)

Not too sure what you mean by upgradable.

From a system like that, especially when you're trying to save money, you're limiting yourself on the motherboard, as there isnt really anything you can just upgrade.

Give me 5 minutes - I'll make a list...

Cant really do much better with the budget. That will perform a little bit better than your list and at least gives the option to crossfire in the future.
If you start with a limited budget - you kind of have to save on every part to get into the budget meaning you limited on upgrades, as the only upgrade you can really do is...everything.
Like going with the i3 - cant overclock it. Not really much point in upgrading to a better cpu unless you get a better motherboard which of course is then the majority of the money of what the build originally cost.

The only upgrades you can really consider with my build even would be adding an SSD and another 7850 for crossfire. (thinking about crossfire - you'd need the CX600 not the 500 like I've put on the list)

If your intentions are to upgrade soon, I'd probably try and push out an MSI Z77a-G43, and a 3570k, and run off integrated graphics until you can afford a better graphics card - but I dont really know what to suggest

EDIT - sorry about the image - didnt resize well on imageshack. If you cant read i'll type out parts

I don't know much about integrated graphics, but if I get the MSI Z77a-G43, and the 3570k, then I technically don't need a graphics card yet? Would my system still run ok?

May I suggest postimage.org? No registration required and very simple

It was my fault for clicking 'for message boards' instead of keeping the original sizing.

And no, the HD4000 isnt powerful enough for most games - although it can play certain games alright...
But - I only suggested that if you are planning on upgrading soon, or running into anymore finances shortly. It's the difference between a very budget build, and a pretty good gaming build. The integrated graphics would just be temporary fix to get the PC up and running, then as soon as you have the money, stick in a 7850 - or GTX 660/660ti as that will be out by the time you'd get round to buying
