Hi there, I was just wondering if I could run 2x GTX 590s on my MSI Big Bang Marshal. I currently have 1 GTX 580 but I would like some more power for gaming in 3D etc. I know that my motherboard doesn't support Quad SLI but does that mean 4 GPUs or a Quad SLI Bridge. I can run SLI but I'm not sure that I can run 2 590s in SLI or does that count as Quad SLI. Also would my Corsair HX1050 new version be able to power the two cards.

a GTX 590 is a dual GPU card so 2 GTX 590's would be Quad SLI even tho you have 2 cards so i assume it not work

thats the million dollar question lmao another member has the same issue (he has dual 590's) not sure if he sorted it out or now. IMHO its a waste of $$$ (unless ya got it to burn) for dual 590's seems like you may have it what i would recommend is simply get 2 GTX580's run sli and be done if ya need more memory get 2 GTX580's with 3GB of memory on them would be alot cheaper and in most cases run equally well, As most games the scaling in sli is barely there let alone quad sli. The only place imho you'd see quad being beneficial is in benchmarks.

I dunno, I've seen 8 way crossfire so I'd assume you can do whatever SLI you want with custom drivers

I agree with S_I_N, two 3GB 580's should be good for a while.
The GTX 580 that I have at the moment is the MSI GTX 580 Lightning Xtreme Edition so it has 3Gb of RAM. I don't think that E Tailers in the UK even sell them anymore. Also does COD4 have an NVidia driver problem because I'm only getting between 40-60FPS on the highest settings and 50-70FPS on the lowest. Why is this seen as I have a 2600k at 4.7GHz, a GTX580 and 8Gb of RAM?

40-60 fps is more than playable. Using 2 590's is not going to get ya much more in the fps sector. Remember sli/xfire on gpu's is really more about benching than fps. Take a look closely at the reviews of the 7970 Tom just did going from single card to dual cards did not up the fps by enough to warrant the cost. Not saying sli 590's wont help its just not going to give ya the big jump you think it will. As said by others alot of ganes are just not coded to make full use of sli/xfire configurations.
as far as adding another 580 while I'm with you I like matching cards you can use any 580 you want I'd stick with another 3gb and same clocks if it were mine

What im saying is that I should get 250fps but im only getting 40. This is very annoying seen as it skips frames. If I pay £500 for a graphics card I expect more that 40 FPS on a game that isn't demanding.

COD is frame locked mate to 62FPS even with vsync off. a single 560 will max COD.
Think you should research these things before making BS statements tbh.
@ OP
If a 580 is going below that though then somehting is wrong, have you manually set all your ram timings?

That's my graphics card and I play at 1920x1200. And I tuned Frame Lock off in the console so my maximum possible framerate is 120. Mine gets 40-60.
EDIT: and yes my timings are set at 7-8-7-20 1600MHz at 1.645V.
Its smashing every benchmark and test I run at it. Plays Metro 2033, BF3, Crysis 2 on Ultra. Its a beast card its just COD 4 that lacks the frames!
