2nd 6970 not showing up......

hello guys...i was hoping my first post with the new rig would be a positive one,,,but alas it was not to be...... got a new 990fx sabertooth and a 2nd 6970 asus dcii and have had a heller time getting the 2nd slot card to show....im at my wits end here......tested both cards and both work..plenty of power (nzxt 850 _ fsp 450w booster) both tested and working,,,re-re-re-re-installed drivers......both cards work from both slots alone.....but plug em in at the same time and i only get one....

i need fresh ideas pls help

are the gpus on the same 12v rail?

may be a dodgy cable (or cable port), ...try a different power port

how many components do you have attached to the Hale90?

Also maybe a problem with the crossfire bridge or maybe need to change settings in the BIOS ?

yeh i got 70amps on a single rail with only 3 sdd's and a bluray for perhiphials sooo......should be plenty...and all test out at a steady 12v

i got no bios ..... only a youeeeee'effineye.......which aint bad but id like more options.....there really isnt much on pci-e options just a pci just a PEG/PCI...and i have no idea who peg is???

can you put a bridge on upside-down??? it is in a silverstone raven 2 case and i installed it right-side-up ???

Might be worth checking you're using the second x16 slot not an x4/x8. Not actually sure about the Sabertooth, but I noticed on the 990fxa-ud7 that the second x16 slot is further down the board than the usual "two slots down from the first one" position.

Edit: Was gonna check the manual, but it's only available in Japanese and German

Edit2: Is 3 slots down, but colourcoded (beige) so pretty sure you've got it in the right place.

Edit3: PEG Is PCI Express Graphics, so make sure it's on that.

First d/load and install Driver Sweeper

And then perform these steps in this order:

Turn off PC > Remove 1 card (if you have 2 installed) > Start PC > Uninstall drivers > Restart PC to safe mode > Run driver sweeper and check the ATI option > Rid your PC of what Driver Sweeper finds > Restart PC into normal windows > Install latest drivers > Turn off PC > Install second card > Boot to windows > let it find your new hardware > Restart > install latest drivers again.

If that don't work you have a problem...

thats pretty close to dthe order of operations i decided to go with tomorow.....but i like yours better(mine didnt involve driver sweeper but ill do that!).....thanx ill let'chall know tomorow

You definietly got the cards in the right place, the first one in the first slot and then the second one in slot 3 and not in slot 2?
