295X2 Questions

For any interested, Turns out the fap meister Shaun was running the Windows 8.1 drivers whilst running windows 8, Not 8.1, So all this trouble shooting was literally for nothing, Well done Shaun, Well done :D

I know this is double posting so please don't hang me, Just wanted to bump the thread.

HAHAHA THAT PIC!

But tbf my Valley score is still 4k and my Firestrike is 7555. So still not right.

That's a buttload better than 1800, You won't reach the same score as Kaap though as he ran that with a 5960X, You can improve your score though by overclocking if you want :)

With Valley there is no advantage using a 5960X over a 4690k as long as they are running at the same clockspeed.

I was using 4.0ghz for my run

Shaun should be aiming for about the same score as I got with his CPU @4.0ghz.

Shaun make sure you have disabled ULPS and also that you are using PCI-E 3.0

:)

Heaven 4 is also a much better guide for this sort of thing too.:)

Holy Thread Hijack Batman it's a thread hijack!

Question re these cards, does the radiator fan speed vary according to temperature or just stay at a fixed RPM? Reason I ask is I believe the fan connector only uses two pins, just wondered if they are constantly at 12v.

And what is the deal with running two fans from the one header, I've read so many conflicting stories on the intertubes that it can or can't be done. My personal idea is to fit two SP120s and run them at 7v constantly from a molex.

I disabled ULPS earlier and its in the top slot. Whats going on? :( CrossFire IS enabled in CCC now too.

Well so far we've come to the conclusion that it has to be Windows 8 as he's not running 8.1 and the latest driver on W8 for the 295X2 was the launch driver, 14.4 was the last supported W8 driver which is nearly a year old so an update to 8.1 and 14.12's is on the cards.

In the 8 years I've been buying and selling this has to be the longest troubleshoot I've ever done and in the end it's all come down to having W8 *Not 8.1* and nigh on 1 year old drivers XD

Only the fap king could manage this ^_^

I really think you should the Heaven 4 bench a go as it is far more reliable than Valley as it does not suffer too much from CPU bottlenecks etc.:)

Well this was some very interesting stuff to read Dice, and this thread for that matter.

You've all done an epic brain fart out of this haha, awesome reading though!

LOL dude I want to cry, why my GPU no run right?! Brain fart to the max.

Time to purchase a copy of 8.1 and go from there.

You are basing this on the Valley bench which is notorious for being crap for testing any high end hardware.

Grab a copy of Heaven 4 and give it a go before you make any rash decisions.

3dmark is also another bench you can use for testing, both of these are free downloads.

I can vouch for 3DMark, and I'm the biggest newbie in here!

Aye but I' am also getting a low score in Firesrike and Domm got 17k on his rig, was mine 5777 or 7555? I think it was 7555.

It's a software problem, If it was hardware it wouldn't be working.

You have to remember as I've already said, You're running Windows 8, Year old launch drivers and those 2 mixed together aren't a good combo.

It came from my rig which was running Windows 8.1 and the AMD Omega drivers and it ran perfectly.

Out of subject a bit... but since I can't send a PM to you Dice, I'm asking here, hope it's alright...

What does those "1500/2000" mean in your "OCUK GTX980 4GB 1500/2000" sig?...

Whenever someones posts numbers like that after a GPU it most often refers to the Core Clock/Memory Clock. So according to his sig, his GTX 980 is running a 1500mhz core clock and a 2000mhz memory clock.. Another example in my case would be an AMD 7950 running a 1000mhz core clock/1500mhz memory clock.
