240 Rad Length

So I have been toying with the idea of putting a new build in my HAF 932. My plan is to put a Bulldozer quad core and a 7970 in and have enough cooling potential from 2 Rads to be able to add a second 7970 later. So here is what I was thinking.

My plan is to put a full size 360 rad 60 mil thick in the roof and mount a 240 rad in the 5.25 drive bays. I want to get a full 60 mil thick 240 but I haven't been able to find one thats less than 280 mil long. I can find 45mil thick rads that are 275 mil long. Does anyone nkow of a full 60 mil thick 240 thats short? Or will running a 45 mil 240 be good enough?

If you've already bought the rig then I'm sad. If you haven't, I recommend going for either six-core Phenom II or straight over to Intel i5 2500k/i7 2600k. The Bulldozers sure as heck aren't worth an HD 7970.

Aside from that, I am curious as to how you intend to mount the second rad. If you mean to mount it vertically, I would imagine it collides with the 360 rad in the top.

I already have the 932( bought it a few weeks before I saw the switch review) Hind sight is 20/20 it seems. As far as the internals I haven't bought anything yet. I made a few measurements and it looked like I could squeeze the 240 in just barely. I'll have to pull out my tape again to double check.

In your opinion though as far as the CPU's would the Phenom 1095 be comparable to the 2500/2600k's? I haven't really done much over clocking. Do you think running an overclocked 2500/2600 and a 7970 of a single 360 would be too much? I can cut the case if I have to or hang another 360 off the back end with a rad box.

TTL here already showed he could run a 1366 CPU and an HD 6990 off a single 360 if I don't recall wrong. For reference go back to his Shadow H20 build. What this means for you is that there's going to be quite a bit less heat to dissipate.

So imo the 360 will be fine.

Im currently Doing my Rig with a 360rad 60mm thick

XFX 7970 and also an i5 overclocked.

The 7970's use less power so create less heat than the 6 series

Ok that sounds good. I'll have to rethink if I want to switch over to an intel cpu. I've never really built an intel system as I have always had to build on a really tight budget. I was planning on this box being my first really nice system.

I really appreciate your feedback!!

Building an Intel only really has one difference. The gold pins you find on the AMD processors are here instead on the socket. They're otherwise identical to build.

Af far as overclocking the intel chips is it pretty much the same? Change multiplier and the volts if you need to? I haven't really done very much clocking on my stuff. Usually under 500 Mhz.
