2 580s not what I expected....

hey everyone

for christmas I got 2 580s (1 I paid myself) and I was raring to see what there potential was however I Loaded up nfs hot pursuit changed some of the settings, I made sure it was in sli and when I started to drive around the quality of everything just looked crap, jaggared lines not much smoothness just looked really awful

changed some of the screen settings but that didnt make it any better... THEN after 2 damn minutes my pc shutdown....this is exactly what happend with my hawks that where in sli aswell, is my monitor the problem for the game looking so awfull? its a samsung bx2450 which is 1080p monitor, I just dont understand I spent so much money on these things, just feeling absolutley gutted tbh, then theres the other problem....folding..

does it also run like poo and doesn't Fold , with F@H you got (get) errors on the WU right ?

i7 950

rampage 3 extreme

2 asus 580s

nh d14

dominator gt 2000mhz c8 6gb

noctua fans all around and the rest of the usual pc stuff

with a single card still looks the same and shutsdown, when im tryin to fold it says my profile is 0000 when I clearly put in 98860 then it trys find new workers then it says its corrupt,

Have you ever done a driver clean dude?

Uninstall drivers & restart

run driversweeper and restart

then instal drivers again with ONE card in.

What power supply are you using? Gotta make sure your not depriving those graphics card of electricity.

Says on his profile it's a Corsair AX850 so that shouldn't be the issue here, especially since he still has problems when running only one card.

and another thing my pc keeps restarting, never has it done that before even when I had the same overclock, it only started restarting when I got it back from the repair shop, I know this may sound a bit idiotic but could guy accidently swapped my 950 for someone elses? I dont know what else to say, im gonna spend some more time trying reconfig my overclock because I did prime for 9 hours straight with 1.28v and stable, got it returned from the man, same clock yet I cant play a game, ive also notice my temps are rising like idle at 40 degrees now...used to be 36 and wwhen I did prime just to see how the temps went about 60 degrees on the core! wth got scared so im now on the base overclock of 3.07ghz at 1600mhz ram

just a thought..could it be my ioh volts or pll? or the sb core ?

If you sent it to a repair shop (for what ever reason) then its their job to fix the problem.

TBH theres nothing you should have sent it to them to do tbh as any questions are always answered here. It sounds to me like its not been set up right but if the drivers are ok then something is broken.

BTW, NFS Hor Pursuit doesn't have/support anti-aliasing.

a good place to start would be turning off sli

a lot of people are having problems running nfs: hp lately so could see if the problem persists in other applications.

well im trying to fold just folding in general seems to be an issue for me, I KNOW....just dont understand how lol but I really want contribute im sure 2 580s and 2 460s can get some decent points!

different models of nvidia chips don't work together as SLI. the f@h can be processed on the primary GPU's and the 460's could run as memory buffers, i think. you need 4 pcie slots, they wont fit in the motherboard memory slots
