1TB HDD RAID 1 and an SSD

I had been hoping to purchase new storage when I buy my complete system after AMD's new offering drops, however, with my old system now installed in my new Raven RV02, the now quieter build has made it obvious that my HDD is a little noisier than I'm comfortable with leaving. I've got some important data on there that I will be throwing onto an external drive tomorrow morning but I also need a permanent solution.

Therefore, I've decided to upgrade my system's storage system now. I am looking at two 1TB (or perhaps 2TB cost allowing) in RAID 1 for storage of media and files and a ~120GB SSD drive for OS and programs. Since I have neither the inclination (I still don't understand why some people fill their homes with multiple setups just so they can have a study computer, a gaming rig a browsing rig etc etc) nor funds to have more than one system, my computer is and will continue to be used for all my requirements (general usage, gaming, work and CAD).

I'm not sure where to start on SSDs atm, I was looking at a Corsair FORCE GT one of which my brother recently picked up and is very happy with, but I've gotten cold feet with all this Sandforce controller death talk so a bit of guidance there would be appreciated from you guys.

With the HDDs I'm currently looking at the following options but am open to suggestions on alternatives etc.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm guessing SATA III can't be utilised by HDDs anyway so SATA II is fine?

yeah pretty much, I challenge anyone to find a SINGLE mechanical drive that can do more than 300MB/s

If you look at the access times that is where you will see the most difference!

The Samsung f3 is probably the fastest mechanical drive out there (it's amazing in raid as well)
