Zombie Mods - The Pockit Rockit

I like the sound of wrapping a rig around a GPU, not a massive gamer myself, but I like where this is going. :)

Truth be told I've not been gaming much lately. There's just nothing out that makes me want to play. Hence why I've sort of fallen back to Fallout 3. God, I hope Bethsoft announce FO4 this year !

Not sure why I read the title as "Titan Black mini toaster" the first time I read it ;)

Probably :D

Edit. Daily update.

So I figured out what the Ncase is. It's $185 and import duty is calculated to £65. Doable, but tbh if I am going to go through those hoops I would want Caselabs, given it's only $15 more. Yeah, I know it's big, but in terms of looks it looks like a mini super computer so it looks small for the look (if that makes sense).

Any way, after doing some measuring I've been looking around at my options and sadly for small width they are few. Like literally Hadron.

I have found a few others that I like the look of but they are more cubed like the 250D. If I get the width down to less than 200mm I can have it on my desk here with me as well as other places. That idea I like, 'cause I've got HDMI KVM switches and so on so I could theoretically switch it out with the Hackintosh in order to play games or work on the OS.

I do like this.

The build quality is drool worthy but it enters Caselabs territory and whilst money is an option I could afford the Caselabs should I put my mind to it.

This is quite nice.

But again, falls foul of the width restriction. Basically these cases all see the board lying flat which makes them 300mm and more wide.

This is quite different.

It's quite large but can you say "Fallout 3 mod". I could name it the GECK and mod it. As I say though, size goes out of the window but I thought it was kinda cool looking and would respond well to some modding, a bit of rust and a few radio valves :)

So for now at least the hunt continues.

I personally would go with the Lian Li simply for the build quality. If you're not fussed about thermal performance and want a case that shows off the hardware inside/your cable management everywhere then you might want to look at an In Win 901. I have one
and while I'm not a huge fan of it (mainly due to it being designed around certain motherboards which have I/Os in different positions to mine) it looks the job
(not my PC)

I'm sure that a heard somewhere that Caselabs have got a new range coming out, in Q3. I think it was on one of the PDXLAN videos that JayzTwoCents put out.

Out of those 3 I'd opt for the LianLi, it is a pretty looking thing. How about the Evolv ITX ?

Yeah 901 has been noted. They have a limited edition gold one.

I have noticed there is a Caselabs page on OCUK but nothing in it yet... Weird, maybe they're going to start importing them.

I do like the LianLi but it's a cube still and I would rather it narrower and taller like the Hadron.

Edit. Been checking out Cooltek's stuff and this one...

In silver, gently modded with the Mayhem fan guard = lush.

I could well have found my new case. It'll need a SFX PSU so will cost £90 more than the Hadron but it's a much better case.

OCUK use them on their 8pack systems, they have been asked a few times about if they're going to stock them, and the answer is always no, there are just just many options and they would have to charge more than what us the buyers would have to pay for one if we just ordered one ourselves.

Yeah you can sort of understand them wanting to monopolise it all given they charge ten grand for those rigs.

Doesn't matter now any way, I have decided on one of the Coolteks (there are about four all told). Probably going with the one in the pic with a 500w Strider which I will probably send to Pexon. Cooler I want this.

Colour scheme is silver, green and black. So I will probably paint the white blades green or change the fan completely :)

They do yes. The V2 is ATX.

Now I'm deciding if I want to upgrade the CPU to a Xeon. I've found one but I'm not quite sure, might use the Pentium first then see what's good later.

I've definitely decided that it's going to be silver, black and green though, so I ordered some silver paracord. Now I have black, two shades of green and silver. It will be a tribute to the Titan Black :)

I am going to make a nice back plate for the GPU and some plates for the hard drives too.

Will order the case and etc on Friday so should be good to go the week after. Am away for Easter.

Amped though. Really feel like I've found the right case for the job.

Evening update. So I decided on a scheme for the wiring.

Basically it will mimic the colours of the Titan Black.

Yeah befitting of the TB. Thankfully the braiding work will be a lot less than I'm usually used to on this one because it's a smaller PC.

I think the silver will really add a nice touch. Almost tempted to do all of the cables in silver :D

Not sure if I've mentioned before but I have a plotter. I cracked and bought one a few months back and at first was worried I wouldn't use it but man, the thing is just so damn handy and was a bargain at £130.

Silver braid is different, you don't see it often go for it. As for plotters we have a Versacamm print and cut, wouldn't be without it or the sublimation printer.

Morning update.

Bad news sorta kinda. There are two different versions of this case, one with PCIE back planes the other without. Sadly the only model with them in the UK is black, so black it must be.

Bit of a bummer but it could've been worse I guess. Could've ordered it and then found out.

I've contacted Cooltek to see if they even make the plus model in silver.

Good news is it's £20 cheaper for some reason.

In da house !

One grill.

And the beginning of a back plate for the GPU..

Update. Back plate meet vinyl, vinyl, back plate.

And done.

Am waiting on green dinoc atm but here it is here.

Will start designing graphics today and post my ideas.

Titan Black.

Test fit back plate.

Nice backplate, very clean. How do you plan on applying it? Double sided tape?

I cut a very small piece of 3m double sided foam and apply to the four corner screws. It doesn't need much holding down it usually stays in place without anything.

Aye, in traditional cases I guess it's never a problem as the plate just lies on top of the card. Would be good to know if it also sticks in non-traditional cases where for instance the GPU is upside down or stood straight up.

Cheers!

Yeah it'll hold crap to a shovel tbh. Very strong stuff but make sure you get the real 3M stuff as the other stuff can be a bit crap.

Edit. Back plate design.
