The form factor of the connection looks the same as DDR4, but I guess that with the power management being on the module itself, a new motherboard will be mandatory, right?

A new motherboard will be needed anyways, and these pictures look like ddr4, i highly doubt ddr5 would be keyed the same, to easy to get it wrong for a lot of people if they did that.

So far everytime there has been a new ddr version, and even in the past before that, each version had a different layout.
