I currently have a Razer Naga Hex, and I was looking for a new mouse, so I figured I would ask you guys what your favorites are.

  • What is your favorite mouse?
  • Laser or Optical?
  • Why?

mionix naos 8200

Lazer

I i love this mouse for the comfort an adjust ability through Mionix's software, its a joy to use an great for long sessions of gaming

I don't really buy much Logitech stuff but their mice are amazing!

I used to have an MX518 and now use a g500

Just feels really good in my hand and nice button placement

Really wanna get a G602 as my next

I have a Cyborg R.A.T.9, i've had it since I built my first rig 3 years ago and it's by far my oldest PC component still in daily use, which must say a lot for how much I like it.

It has it's flaws, it's starting to look scruffy (for me, you would say its mint), the battery needs switching about every 6 hours and the scroll wheel is just about dead. But it's perfect for my wide short hands when it has the widest pinky grip and the thumbrest adjusted right out. I hold it like a noob with two fingers on the pinky grip but for daily use I don't think I could live with any other mouse. I don't know whether it's not great for gaming or i'm not great at gaming, still undecided lol.

I guess one day soon i'll have to replace it and it might just have to be a R.A.T.7 so it's the same form but I don't have to switch batteries all day. I really want to love the M65 as that would fit nicely with my other kit but I don't find it as comfortable and meh blue LED's.

using a steelseries rival with my main rig and a steelseries sensei raw with my laptop. used to have a g9x.
the steelseries rival is my favourite out of the lot, very comfy, very large and probably has the best sensor on the market. the sensei raw's buttons are a tad worse, therefor it is lighter. it's ambidextrous though which was the main reason for why i bought the rival.
the g9x is odd. it's small, heavy, not really comfy, has extra weights even though it already weighs 130g. the buttons are pretty nice though and the two grips you can attach to the mouse are nifty. still the steelseries mice are leagues ahead of it.

I find mice are like a pair of shoes, you need to find the ones that fit you and suit your needs. For me I have very big hands so mice like the Rival are perfect for me.

Another thing is the sensor, I hate any type of built in prediction on the hardware level like angle snapping. This is a problem with Laser mice, for me Optical mice are the way to go as they are just much better overall. The only thing Laser boasts over Optical is DPI, but you don't need the ridiculously high DPI on some of these laser mice anyway, 400 - 1800 is more than enough for any situation.

So mice that I would go with at the moment are the Steelseries Rival and the Coolermaster Alcor.

Hi

I use a Razer Deathadder Black mouse. It works for my hands and is pretty smooth. First Razer product after long time Logitech MX mouse user. I don't need a lot of fancy buttons just a great working mouse

Most comfortable mouse I've ever used. It fits my hand pretty much perfectly despite the fact that I use a claw/palm hybrid. It's even comfortable for fingertip grip. It beats out my other mice (Sensei and Lachesis) in pretty much every way, though I do prefer the buttons on the Lachesis.

I don't know if this is down to the optical sensor or the mouse shape itself but I've found myself being much more accurate and fast using this mouse. Oh and as a bonus it was like £35.

I have a Logitech G500s which I quite like.

Before that it was an OCZ Equalizer (way back when they used to make gaming mice).

Razer DeathAdder hands down. I almost swear it was built specifically for my hand. I've got 3.5G and the 2013 model and while I like the feel of the 3.5G better with its smooth finish, I like the sensor better on the 2013.

No preference on laser vs optical tho.

Gigabyte M6880 Laser I use it for Photoshop work for the sensitivity and the large palm size makes it perfectly comfortable I also have a Kensington track ball which I used to use a lot.

Microsoft Wheel mouse optical (WMO) is my favourite.
No preference between optical or laser. I've only ever used one laser mouse which was an HP attached to an edit workstation at work. (was nice enough)

I use a Microsoft sidewinder X3. (im probably the only one) It's a fantastic mouse and I think I paid $20 for it two years ago. Oh, it's laser afaik. :D

I always wanted to try the Sidewinder X5 back a few years ago. Never got around to buying one though and now theyre long gone.

I've used a Roccat Kone [+] for two years now and IF it breaks anytime soon, I'd probably see if I can find another one. There are few mice that will actually be an upgrade for me after this.

It is a bit on the expensive side, but I guess you do get good driver software with it (can change the LEDs on the mouse to whatever you want, or off). You can set multiple profiles with multiple sensitivity options per profile and you can switch between them with the clicks of two buttons on the mouse itself.

I also adore the Easyshift button which lets me press a button on the side of the mouse and then click and it will work as the 'Back' key in browsers, for example.

The new mice Roccat make are pretty good too, but this one is a fair bit bigger, which I personally like.

Took this the other night while I was waiting for Dirt Showdown to download.

The mice are ready for action.

dirt showdown is a terrible game. dirt 3 already had some annoying parts, but showdown was just wrecked.
i'd like to test the sensei, just to see what the metal body is like. i imagine it's not too great though, must be pretty heavy.

The sensei are ok to use but they just feel a little bit bigger than other mice, for me it is not a problem as I have big hands.

I also use mice with either of my hands depending on which PC I am using which the Sensei are good for due to being symmetrical in shape.
