XSPC Rasa 750 RS240 Compatibility Q.?

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if the Rasa 750 RS240/RX240 Water Cooling kit is compatible with the Obsidian 650D case?

RS240 Seems to have more clearance?

There was a recant Video review made by TTL on YT in which he said that the Radiator will have clearance issues with the Gigabyte UD7 motherboard. It happens that I have a Gigabyte UD7 motherboard in a 650D case, so if the RS or RX240 Radiators wont fit I will have to consider looking at other Radiators that are compatible.

I would happily consider purchasing separate components if the Rad does not fit.

I would also appreciate it if you guys could recommend ideal tubing width for my water cooling project and compression fittings. I only want to build a single loop configuration for the CPU with a bay reservoir.

Primoflex or tygon 3603 tubing. Compression? If you really want them ok. Bitspower makes nice fittings. But im using 1/2 inch barbs and 7/16 x 5/8 tubing with no clamps. Sorry no pics as of yet. Im still assembling everything. Not sure about that case and rad combo. Sure someone here will give some info on that. Rx rad will perform better than rs. But that's all I know. Hope that helps

Many people use the Tygon 3603 tubing, do they come in different sizes? What is ideal? Most people suggest 1/2" ID? (I think)

Also is compression a bad idea?

I was considering purchasing Rotary 45 degree G1/4" compression fittings and normal rotary G1/4" compression fittings. I feel these two fittings is all I need for a decant loop?

I don't know what sizes to get though, since the 1/2" ID Compressions fittings come in two variants -

ID 1/2" x OD 3/4" and ID 1/2" x OD 5/8"?

And for the 45 Degree fittings which also come in two variants -

ID 3/8" OD 1/2" and ID 3/8" OD 5/8"?

basically he's saying the uses 7/16 id tubing since the barbs are 1/2 inch the tubing is 1/16 smaller there by pushing on tightly so as not to need clamps or compression fittings at all as it forms a leak free tight seal.

The RS240 will fit, its the RX240(60mm) that he said wouldn't fit with that mb. But with a RS240 rad its a thin radiator that you would only be able to cool the cpu or the graphics, but not both. You can get a thinker radiator, just look for one that is around 50mm range. Thicker radiator is better, and it could make it possible to add a single vid card in the cpu loop.

As for the tubing and fittings go. Get the RS240 kit, it will come with 1/2" barbs, 7/16" tubing and quick clamps. It comes with enough stuff to complete your single cpu loop. Only thing you would have to buy is the water/fluid you would like to use.

Why buy more tubing and fittings when you have all you need in the kit? And if you did buy different ones, go with 1/2" barbs in your color choice, and a 7/16" tubing so you don't need to use clamps, you can just put them on for your own piece of mind.

Aaah yes but I personally prefer the aesthetics of compressions fittings and they feel more secure.

Ok, not sure about the fittings, i think you might be able to still use the 7/16 hose for 1/2 fittings, but I probably would go for 1/2" hose cause for the compression part might take a certain thickness of the tubing itself to work. I have only used compression fittings once, and I used the size tubing that it called for.

I am thinking of getting an EK Supreme HF CPU block (Copper or Nickel), with rotary compression fittings throughout the loop. I prefer using a Bay Reservoir with a built in pump since its keeps everything tidy and simple.

I was thinking of using push pull, with 2x120mm fans on either side of the RAD but I don't think it will be possible on a Obsidian 650D case so I will be using only 2x Scynth Gentle Typhoon 120mm fans above the RAD.

Tubing:

Tygon R-3603 1/2" ID (3/4 OD) Clear

or

PrimoChill PrimoFlex Pro LRT Clear

As you have suggested I will be purchasing 1/2" ID x 3/4" OD Tubing.

Compression fittings:

Bitspower Matte Black Rotary Compression fitting

Bitpower Matte Black 45 Degree Rotary Compression fitting

I don't know if these sizes are compatible with the tubing? The website has a compatibility table but I am still a bit confused.

Reservoir/ Pump:

Can you suggest a simple single performance bay Res? Or maybe a dual bay res is better? I know XSPC have different variations

Seriously for just the cpu, your not going to beat the xspc rs 240 kit bro, good reliable pump, and res, It's a dual 5.25" bay res. And you can just get the primoflex or tygon seperate and keep the hose sent with the kit as backup, hose isnt that exspensive. And get your fittings. Rotary compression is nice. And yes the compression fittings made for 1/2" tubing are correct for 1/2" ID x 3/4" OD hose.

maybe get 2 45degree angle rotary compression fittings for the block, (nice block choice on the ek there) and youll only need straight fittings coming out of the res with pump built in. Maybe 2 straigts or 45's for the radiator.

Plus the barbs sent with that kit will work with above mentioned hose as well, just use the clamps on the fittings if you have to use them.

Get the rs240 kit, unless you plan to upgrade later. But that kit with a larger rad would cool atleast 2 blocks. But the 240 should be just fine for cpu only.

So I will be getting a RS240 Rad with the dual 5.25" bay res/pump combo from XSPC. 4 x Rotary 45 degree Compression fittings for the CPU Block and RAD and 2 x normal rotary compression fittings for the Res...
