So my new motherboard won't come with any PCI slots, so that's my current Asus Xonar DS out the window! I was wondering if anyone knew details about the release date or pricing of the new DGX / DSX which are basically PCI-E versions of the same cards.
They were announced in early March but I have yet to see them hit retail
Failing that, is there any point in getting these cards anyway? I'm no audiophile, so I don't want to spend £150 on a sound card. The MSI-Z77-GD65 comes with some sort of THX on-board audio (I think?) which looks like an improvement on the usual Realtek.
The main importance for me is a system-wide equalizer because the default flat setting in my Xonar DS doesn't have quite enough bass, so I took the "Bass" setting and toned it down a bit. Sounds great now. My primary listening device is a Steelseries Siberia V2, so it's a little low on bass.
(I probably sound bad to an audiophile - I want a bit of extra bass in my music, not exactly "pure" is it!
