XFX Type 1 Bravo - XFX's first entry into the case market

My xfx experience has been poor. I ended up being the semi-authority on troubleshooting xfx 'card problems here for a while thanks to my infriating xfx 7870. good chip (could do 1.1 on much more minimal voltage increase then any other non xt 7870 it seemed) sadly let down by awful cooling. Pretty sure the stock amd cooler would've done a better job...
 
And the GPU in the case is XFX card, just the new cooler from them. And after what i self have seen on them. They alot better then the cooler on HD7XXX series, but will never go to them one more time. 4 cards from them, have died with in 1 year. ;)
 
yeah I heard good things (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) about xfx's latest attempt at cooling. they probably got rid of the hairdryer fans.
 
My XFX 5850 Black Edition is four years old and still going strong, but I definitely wouldn't buy this case on the basis that the design was finalised by David Blunkett and Stevie Wonder.
 
What really bothers me is that one of the awards the xfx 7000 series has earned (according to my 7870's box) is the OC3D gold award. I couldn't work out what card earned it.

pretty sure it was the XFX double dissipation HD 7870 Tahiti LE
 
I somehow like the case design because its different, however the case doesnt seem very practical and will probably catch a lot of dust.

Plus you cant watercool it properly :)
 
I'm not a fan of the case, yet another black monolith, way too much nasty looking plastic. If it was real cheap like the Zalman ones then there would be a place for this in the market. There comes a point where people go for cost over style, but not at this price point.

As for XFX cards I'm running a pair of 7970's that I can not afford to replace. It's feels like I'm sat next to a leaf blower! They throw off so much heat they have rendered my D14 useless so I have had to replace a perfectly good air cooler with a AIO cooler. I would not recommend XFX to anyone.

Unless the sound is actually starting to create problems you don't need to replace them.

My new philosophy with hardware is this, If both your top end cards can keep up with 1 top end "Newer" gen card then there is no need to replace them.

When they start struggling to get above 40FPS in your most played games then it's time to start thinking about newer tech, Until that time comes which I highly doubt is any time soon, Enjoy the technology you have :)
 
Shocking, does any one think it looks like a train ?

The only XFX product I own, is a 850w psu, one of the connections, I had a Molex outputs decided to play silly buggers, and blew 2 D5's inside a week. It was only after the 2nd popped I realised what the problem was. It's on RMA so fingers crossed it will be sorted, at least I can you it testing purposes.
