XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog green screens in Crysis

A mate of mine recently bought this card and told me he was having problems; in Crysis it gives strange jagged green lines across the screen then freezes. In Hellgate London it does the same thing after about 10 mins. I suggested it may be out of date drivers but after a full drivers update there was no difference.

I then tried the card in my rig to see if this made any difference but I got the strange lines in Crysis too. When tried with my GTX, it runs fine.

The random thing is we tried Battlefield 2142, one of the buggiest games ever and it worked fine. Even after two rounds it was still running.

My rig:

AMD4000+ Venice 939 @ 2.4Ghz

4x512MB PC3200

Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI

OCZ 700W PSU

His rig:

AMD 5600 AM2

4x512MB OCZ DDR2-800

Asus M2N-SLI

Antec 650W TruPower

Do you think this is a problem with just this card which could be solved with an RMA or do you think this is more deep rooted?

maybe idle(unless its watercooled), iv never seen anyone with a load temp of 50. probe is either messed up or something

Nope just really cold :p It was measured using Rivatuner and NvMonitor. External tests with a temperature sensor showed that they may actually be right.

As mentioned it's probably broken if you've tested in 2 rigs. Duno about acceptable temps on these new cards, but again as ai_01 said, if the probe isn't acting right in the card then every program will read temps incorrectly.

Heh that was my initial reaction but I thought I'd put it out there first :p

The nice people at specialtech will be receiving an RMA shortly.

50 load is possible with these cards.. They don't run that hot. A lot of people seem to think they do but mine doesn't.

The 65nm 8 series do run a lot cooler, especially the GT. If they didn't they couldn't be so slim :p

Saying that I have also seen proof that some peoples cards run pretty damn hot... Can't make out why this would be but I don't care that much as i've got one of the nice cool ones even when clocked to high heaven!
