For anyone interested in getting the wireless adapter for the Xbox One controller, you may need this guide.

So Microsoft being all they can be, have once again failed in making an accessory that will be automatically recognised and installed. MS are aware of the issue and more recent Win 10 installations apparently have no issues.

So for anyone who has purchased this great little accessory for wireless controlled gaming and Windows has failed to recognise the adapter correctly (will show in Device Manager as "Xbox ACC"), this is what you will need to do :

1/ Using Internet Explorer, navigate to : catalog.update.microsoft.com

2/ Search for "Xbox Wireless"

3/ You will see several listings for "Microsoft-Other hardware-Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows", click on the name to find the appropriate 32/64 bit driver with the latest date. Now add this driver to your "Basket"

4/ Click the "Basket" in the top right

5/ Now download the driver to a folder of your choice and unzip the contents.

6/ Open Device manager (Right click the windows icon and select "Device Manager")

7/ Right click the device labelled "Xbox ACC", then click "update driver"

8/ Select the "Browse My Computer" option

9/ Navigate to the folder you have downloaded and unzipped the driver in the previous step.

10/ Installation will then proceed.

11. Controller and Wireless accessory should now work!

Yeah, very much the same issue I always had with the Xbox 360 controller. Nice little guide there, should help a lot of people :)

Cheers dude, maybe one day MS will get their act together and actually just produce something that works "out of the box".
