It'll work well for a tablet though?
It looks pretty much like windows 7 so that's alright, I assume the tablet-style layout is optional?
I should hope that it's optional. I love the way windows 7 looks.
The slowest things in my Win 7 bootup is the BIOS checks and password login screen. I hope we get a chance to hit "DEL".
I like the MS Office 2007 and newer touches they added to Windows Explorer... like?... love!
But that touch splash screen while ok in function as a touch interface, visually it's just has far too much white text and in your face background colours. Even a faded colour coded band on a white background is more than enough without punching people in the face with a fist full of purple, blue, orange, etc.
MS should make a tool so the user can make their own OS then just improve that every 3 years rather than releasing their own terrible UIs
They should just allow custom themes and UI's instead of you having to replace some files....
the windows 8 OS works similarly to the old XP Media Centre OS, whereas the default screen was set to launch media center upon startup. but, it could easily be changed to work like normal XP.
the same applies for win8... the "TOUCH" OS can be switched off, and win7-like startups can be used instead
