8.1 is going to have ReFS too as an option to NTFS, it's the filesystem that comes with Server 2012, I use it at work and it's really pretty good.

I use StartIsBack. By far the nicest and best one iv'e tried.

I have also seen something that claims to remove the metro stuff, but i haven't tried that.

Yep I've used all of them my self couldn't agree with this more.

Would be great if Microsoft or any other company came out with a gaming operating system, All non essential things taken, All under the hood stuff really optimized kernel etc...

One can dream ^_^

you can disable everything you don't need in services or remove them completely, used to do that with windows XP and create a custom install that only installed the things you needed.

sadly MS like to keep the kernel all to themselves i want games to support linux then i'd be a happy bunny.
