hi

okay i have three hard drives on my comp my OS was installed on my ssd. all other programs installed on my comp were installed on a seperate hard drive such as games, apps etc. my windows 7 recently decided to stop working, so my question is if i re-install windows on my ssd will it be able to launch the programs on the other hard drive?

thanks in advance

If you make sure all the game files are on the separate drive then navagating to the exes after a re-install generaly works. You might get some not wanting to play ball due to reg entries getting whacked. But generally speaking games work.

As Ham said, games are usually the more co-operative of apps. You may need to enter your reg key again though. Things like adobe apps and any driver / hardware management software will need deleting, cleaning up with something like ccleaner and reinstalling

cant you save the reg enteries or something? seem to remember my mate doing this as he formats pretty often =\

Yes but you have to be able to find / catch them as they go into the registry. There are apps that can do this but they're a bit iffy as you can technically use them to crack certain applications

I've been doing it with XP for years. MY OS drive is only gb and all my apps and games are installed on D drive. As well as My Docs and emails.

If I format and reinstall windows I normally only have to install a couple of things (instead of 100's).
