Why Anarchists want SSDs

There are so many conflicting reports on this. I read a study at the beginning of this week that said it's near impossible to wipe an SSD with current tools because of the extra space SSDs have built into them for wear leveling. Enterprise drives especially may have as much as 25% more space that is hidden by the firmware to use just for this purpose.

I was wondering but to be honest, but they're still new tech to me. I haven't the mobo (on running rig, I do have one and an AMD2 aside) to run one yet. I have noticed prices dropping, and would love to have at least my OS on one.

They are definitely worth the money. I can't wait until we're at a point where they are the norm and mechanical hard drives are gone. Price and capacity has to catch up first though.

I still view them as an over expensive luxury tbh.

I've got a bunch of them, not great results in a gaming pc purely cos just using one for the OS is a waste if you "just" use that pc for gaming, and I'll be damned if I'll spend over the odds to get a larger than 128g one as the price ratio increases the bigger you want. Boot time is fantastic, but in all honesty 30 seconds or so versus a minute - so what ? I can however understand people liking them if they use their gaming pc for everyday stuff also.

One in the mbp and one on the test bench right now.

Some crazy speed ones coming through the pipeline mind you. All the ones we consider fast atm are being replaced by new that are close to double that speed !
