Who here is canceling there Crysis 2 pre-order?!

I know I am. After playing the demo I was disappointed. It was a terrible idea for Crytek to release a demo that is SOOOO unrefined. But that is not the only reason why. For one the ONLY reason Crysis one sold pretty well was because the game looked pretty, other that that the story in both Crysis and Crysis warhead was predictable and bad. Terrible voice acting, not so convincing characters, and a mediocre at best plot. Crytek must not have realized that. The reason I say that is because now they said they are going to release the game in DX10 and patch for DX11 later down the line. Also the demo is only DX9. The multilayer is also only 6v6 WTF!

I certainly hope this is just because its a demo but I know for a fact thousands of people have canceled there pre-orders because of this demo alone. Crytek is really going to regret this. if there was never a demo for this game i bet it will sell better.

What are your guys's thoughts?

mainly those who played the demo.
 
I watched the leaked version on YouTube....it looks nice even though it's still not the final release.

Honestly, I liked COD Modern Warfare 2 much better. Graphic wise, Crysis is great....but not so great for overall experience/gameplay.

I agree with you. The story is kind of corny...no offence to Crytek.

I'm not judging the game on this shit demo, I am sure the story will be good and when DX11 gets implemented it will look amazing. But no way in hell I would not buy a game because of a multiplayer demo.

That is what a demo is. Its meant to demonstrate the game to you so you can decide to buy it or not, apparently crytek does not realize this. and TONS of people have canceled pre-orders because of the poor demonstration by cryteks demo. unfortunately this is going to be a Xbox360 port so we can forget about jaw dropping visual. they will look nice and maybe a little better than the first one but i was hoping it would be 10x better than the first one not .1x better.
 
I will admit I am slightly biased on this because I loved crysis 1, also I hate they fact they let out a crap console port for a demo. But they specifically said it was not an xbox port and that they where going to optimize the PC version. I think they did sell out a bit by making a CoD clone when it comes to multiplayer but the game should still look amazing and be worth getting if you where a fan of the first.

Maybe we should all just wait and see what Crytek has to offer at release?

Well yea they are going to optimize for the PC version, after all there is going to be a DX11 patch. Not to be rude but i'll believe it when i see, the Demo version even says "Press Start." i do agree with you on the last part, talking about that the game will look amazing, just not as amazing as id expect it to be. i will defiantly pick this up, but not at a midnight release.

It doesn't surprise me that they probably just tweaked a console version for a PC demo. It makes sense in their eyes, saving them time and money.

I'm going to leave my pre-order going and reserve judgement for the final cut, when all the bells and whistles have been added to the pc version.

well what crytek does not understand is a "DEMO" especially before release is vital to sell there product. they need to impress people if they going to do an early release for there game (not counting BETA). this demo probably just dramatically hurt crytek's sales for the PC version of the game. and also the lost of trust in crytek too. the fact that they said will be the most visually impressive game has made a lot of people un-easy. this isnt a big problem for console owners because they can trade the game back if they do not like it. us PC users are stuck with it once we buy it.

they should have just left this demo on the 360.

but maybe i should also place some of the blame on the whining crysis PC community who practically demanded a PC demo.
 
I'm keeping my preorder. I must be one of the few who didn't buy the original so I have nothing to compare it against, but I've been enjoying the game play, mainly the crash site mode, but i did expect better graphics, but then again its a lot more enjoyable than the god awful Black Ops.

My major criticism of the demo is the lack of graphics options or even explaining which is the top setting, the fact my G35s won't work with it and the stupidly left in "Press Start" before you login.
 
I canceled my preorder, i'll wait till it's DX11 before I buy it, plus with the money I save I can finally get a D14.
 
I know this is off topic, but I'm looking forward to the next Ghost Recon game instead. The preview looks promising.

I was considering getting both like i did with MoH (getting for the PS3 and the PC) because i had lots of friends on both. but i guess i will save $60 and not get the PC version UNLESS crytek pulls something amazing out there ass.
 
Now I know the Battlefield 3 was a pre-Alpha demonstration, but I can easily see the graphics of that being truly incredible.

However, with patches Crysis 2 will still look epic

That is what is disappointing is that they will release patches for the game. so theoretically the PC version of the game wont be out for another few months or so or until they get all the visual patches in there.
