Ham, I love you lol. You speak sense in times of need. I'm frustrated with my rig and money isn't the problem. I know people on here have similar rigs, not sure about what res they play @ what settings but all the reviews out there (with screen shots) look so much better than what i am seeing! also claiming GT = ~GTX perf.

Perhaps there is a fault with my rig as I swear things used to be better (literally a week/2 ago).

I have tried reducing the res on gears/ut3 (i'll leave crysis out as nothing can handle it) even turning down some of the settings but I'm getting, I don't know what I'm getting, not artifacts but when I move the mouse quickly I can see the image refreshing infront of me. It's not acceptable. It's not playable imo. It's putting me off computers as it is a box of frustration instead of fun. That any my stupid house mate with his cheap a$s xbox outperforming my (comparatively) expensive pc.

Maybe I should shut the hell up. Or just give up. Throw the damn thing down the stairs and pick up the insurance money.

I really think your expecting to much form the hardware.

As new games come out hardware gets hammered. New hardware emerges as an answer and overtakes it, its a never ending cycle thats been going on for at least 10 years.

1920x1200 is a massive rez, and it you won't be able to run games which came out yesterday with everything turned up max on hardware that is basically a year old(ish). You will be able to on with the next generation. But not this one.

Its the way the industry works. Just turn off some of the less noticeable settings or the rez down and be patient.

I'm pretty sure vsynch is off - does that cap the frame number or cause this refresh prob?

I don't get it. Gfx card is mildly clocked - ati tool and 3dm06/rthd... stable - latest drivers. HDD's are fragged but I am low on space on my storage drive (not sure if some of the games are on there) quad is backed down to 3.6 rock solid, ram is @ stock (1200mhz 5-5-5-15) temps are fine.

You think I should get fraps and see what frame rates I'm getting? Or run some game benchmarks?

some ppl say that its smooth, but they get like 40fps in games, ppl's defition of running well is different, i have learnt that

that res is also very nice, VRAM might be holding u back compared to the GTX.

and dont forget, those benchmarks are the average, in gameplay it does dip down alot lower than u would expect.

Vsync caps FPS but will stop tearing issues if you are having them

Some of the performance u're mentioning is just normal for a GT...you won't see AMAZING performance with the very very latest games, that's just the way it is.

Clock the card to stock, then run some FRAPS benchmarks in games
