Which Opteron?

I'm going to be building a new PC based on the Socket 939.

I've been given a brand new Asus A8N32 SLI Deluxe from my work as they were chucking things away.

As the title suggests I am looking for the best AMD Opteron for the Socket 939. I've looked around the Internet and apparently there is one that is just about equivalent to one of the AMD FX Series (I think its the FX60 or FX65)

AND Id like to know if an 8800GTX will work alongside with the board.

i sugest you get an opteron 185 i believe it is marked as, it is dual core, and probably one of the fastest 939 processors :)

also, yes, an 8800GTX would work perfectly with 939 :)

Ditto, but 939 Opty's are hard to find, and seem expensive on eBay.

I don't know of anywhere that still stocks them, hence why they seem expensive on eBay (compared to a 775 cpu).

i *personally* prefer socket 939 though

my personal opinion

and considering you have a 939 board, you mightaswell get a good 939 processor for a nice solid stable rig :)

i may be biased but i like the 165 my old 165 was running 2.7-2.8 easy, may have to dig it out and have another play with it

The reason i want the 185 is because I heard it is equivilant to one of the fx series. I might not even bother buying that processor because i found that my mate has an AMD Opteron 185 spare - Luckily he got 2 by mistake. Hopefully I should be able to get it from him for free.

All I got left is getting the Ram, PSU and Hard Drive.

had not really thought of selling them at first so never had a price worked out, what do you think they are worth?
