In the spirit of the new year I'm thinking of upgrading my vid card. Although I don't really need to, I'd definately like to try something different for a change :)

What I'm currently looking at are a few different options.

A.) X1950XTX - I have chosen this as it performs a tad bit better than my current card and would also give me the ability to fold an additional F@H core.

B.) X1950 Pro Crossifer - I chose this setup because it's about the same price as an X1950XTX and offers a smidgeon more performance and would also let me fold an additional F@H core (I was originally hoping that I could fold 2 extra cores since I would have 2 cards but it doesn't seem like CF setups are supported :()

C.) 8800GTS - I chose this because it offers a great deal more performance than my current card and is in check with the pricing of the 2 previously mentioned setups. Unfortunately going with this setup means no extra F@H core but does give me DX10 support for when Vista launches retail.

D.) 8800GTX - I've put this one in just for poops and giggles. Again this is obviously the highest performing card but costs and considerable bit more than any of the other mentioned setups and would just be a fun card to have. Yet I don't think this card quite fits in to my budged at the moment, or my case for that matter :p

E.) Stick with the 7900GTO until R600 comes out and then check in to that.

F.) Just stop spending money frag, ur a FREAK! :freak:

What do you think I should do? Give some reasoning behind ur vote too plz.

8800GTX FTW

Frag...u don't come across as a guy who likes to wait...you've said it yourself in your post...."the highest performing card"...for me that warrants the purchase....fund permitting of course. I have one of the said cards and am over the moon with it's performance.

At 24" native res. it flies everything....

!!HAPPY SHOPPING!!

what's the max res of your monitor Frag?

personally i'd grab one of the DX10 cards, but that's just me...

the G80 cards may not be supported just yet for F@H, but they should be soon ;)

LOL, PERFECT THREAD Frag... I have the same prob. I have the Biostar 965 (so SLI is out) and I use a 19" CRT (so 30" crazy resolutions are out).

The 8800GTX would add over an inch to my case (which I dont want) And I am not a mad gamer (the comp is more for show)

I was thinking about a HIS X1950XT (comes with the Excellent cooler)

Its almost $150 less than the 8800GTS

lawl thanks for the input guys. looks like we have a definitive answer that equates to me being a freak :)

thanks for curbing the urge! :worship:

ROFL, gotta love the thread results. Only on OC3D do people actually care about your financial status :p
