My current home PC spec:

E4300 (Clocked - See Image)

Gigabtye 965P-DS3 Mobo

Ok so ive started buying bits for a HTPC - Ive not got the Mobo but have purchased a E6550 CPU.

So my question is would I be better off using my existing E4300 and Board for HTPC? The E6550 is 1333FSB but does that mean its a better CPU?

My home PC is used for gaming where as the HTPC would be used only for playing HD movies - would have bare OS and thats all. Thanks for any input

i say use ur E4300 for ur htpc, and the E6550 for your main comp.

E4300 b/c less power, less heat, and to just watch a movie it does not take that much processing power. and when u play games im sure ull like that lil more boost from the E6550

Thats kind of what I was thinking although if you see ive overclocked my E4300 to almost 3gig - I went for the E4300 from overclockers due to its overclocking capabilities.

So even tho its overclocked you good people would still recommend the E6550 as main PC and use E4300 for HTPC

E6650s overclock too so yes. Plus running a heavily overclocked CPU in a HTPC isnt really doable

More or less yeah! ;)

It is a nice chip, will play games like a dream.

Thank you for all your advice...

My existing E4300 I Will set back to default settings and this will become my HTPC and the E6550 will be main gaming PC.

Interested to see how much I can overclock the 6550.......
