Isn't the "new" iPad a 4G LTE device? Not 3G.
ipad 3 been anounced. Its the same dual core, but has a quad core graphics. also screen is 2048 x 1536, which will look simply amazing. however i don't expect it to be much faster than the ipad 2, they claim it to be 4 times faster than the tegra 3 chip (which is quad core) but in what respect and i highly doubt that! It'll basically be an ipad 2 with better graphics, so should run smoother and screen will be alot sharper, thats not to say the screen wasn't bad on the ipad 2.
I for one will not be rushing to get one because of the relatively minor adjustments. Oh forgot to mention the new camera 5mp capable of 1080p, which i suppose is good, but it's not the biggest selling point for me.
nonetheless if one hasn't got an ipad then by all means get the ipad 3, but if you already got an ipad 2, i don't think it's worth the upgrade.

Oh ok, then I must ask... do you plan on recording a lot with you iPad (ie. Pictures and Video), and do you plan to load it with music and movies? If yes, go with the 64Gb. I have a 32Gb iPhone 4, and even though I thought I would never use up space with pictures, videos and apps, I found myself without space. It's always nice to have more than you need, especially if price isn't a concern.
The 3G is also nice with the iPad if you like iCloud syncing contacts, documents and app data such as game saves. I don't know about the UK, but here in Canada we have WiFi towers installed with our ISP. No need for 3G or 4G anymore. We just log into our WiFi anywhere and get the same speeds as you would at home, no need for data packages. It's brilliant.
So my vote is 64Gb + 3G.
Nonono, not "iPad 3". It's just "iPad" - don't be confusing!![]()
One thing I don't understand about the reported specs for the new iPad relates to the core count for the GPU. I understand that it probably out-performs nVidia's Tegra system - but is it really only quad-core? It's my understanding that the GPU component of Tegra has 12 cores - is the marketing department confusing the core architecture with GPUs with the architecture for CPUs, or does the iPad GPU really have only four cores?
In essence, four cores for a CPU is good, but only four cores for a GPU is a bit underpowered, really. Is the architecture for the iPad so radically different that the core-count on the GPU becomes meaningless?
It's both - it supports a couple of LTE frequencies, but will revert back to 3G when it isn't within range.
That doesn't help me in Australia of course, our only LTE network runs at 1800 MHz, which isn't supported by the iPad.
Of course, I'm perfectly happy with my Transformer Prime anyway, so I may be a it biased.![]()
My vote is to get whatever suits you size wise, and go with the 3G model. It's so much more convenient when you're at places that have expensive paid wifi (airports and train station over here spring to mind) and also when you're on the train and want to browse the internet (no wifi on trains here in Belgium).
Can you add a "I wouldn't buy an iPad" option to the vote?
No SD card slot, but there are a tons of ways to get data to an iPad. I use Webdav for this, but something like Airsharing can use multiple protocols like ftp, normal http downloads, sftp, webdav. It would honestly be more of a hassle to load data onto a card from my pc, then plug the card into the ipad. Drag and drop to a drive letter within Windows is a great feature to have.
32GB + Wifi + 3G.
iPad 3 just burns itself in to a shiny fireball.
Mine is not even warm to the touch.
Try leaving 10> things open then put it under 90> % load, without any cases etc.
