Which Battlefield game to buy?

I've had a feening to play some battlefield lately and I figured I'd buy Battlefield 2 or 2142. Problem is I can't decide which, I want a lot of people to still be playing online so I can get into a game whenever, but I also love Battlefield 2 especially for the vehicles and I've never played 2142. If 2142 has good vehicles (especially heli like) and has a ton more people playing, I may bite the bullet (no pun intended ) and buy that, otherwise I'd prefer to buy BF 2.

I am in love with BF2142 and haven't stopped playing since I got it two years ago.

Some very original ideas in it.. never liked BF2, not sure why.

If you want to fly, definitely BF2. All 2142 has is this lame hover plane thing.

I vote 2142 for pretty much the same reason as Tox, I got it a couple of years back and it's one of the very few games I play still.

I went off it when COD4 came out but then got annoyed with the lack of teamplay in COD so quickly went back to 2142!

PS: It took me 2 years to figure out that you can actually zoom in with the scopes on sniper rifles...

I'd say 2, but this is purely because i like modern day war games, and not futurey ones.

Oh and also the fact that i've never actually played 2142

The hover drop ship is good fun. Not as realistic as a heli though. There is also futuristic fighter jets, I love them!

I have BF2, and I want to get BF2142 because it looks vastly different. Same engine and stuff, but thats what makes it BF.

I am a pure BF2 man mainly because the mods available for it are continuously updated , there is a massive community playing Project Reality -

This is always under development and definately worth a look. The equipment and areas of battle are realistic and also the way the weapons work. It is nothing like BF2 in that sense but you do need BF2 to play.

I cannot comment on 2142 as I am still hooked on Project Reality and take part in organised matches regularly.
