When is Kentsfield slated for release?

Just curious as to when Kentsfield will go public? The first samples that we have seen are totally god-like and I can't wait to see the impact they will make on the server / hardcore gaming scene (considering most upcoming games should be multithreaded right?).

Who's planning on getting one @ release?

I beleive actually in september Kentsfield is supposed to become the new Core 2 Duo X**** series cpu. Maybe as late as november.

heard that myself. the proformance of these chips are unreal. But ill think ill wait untill Intel come out with true quad core instead of 2 dual cores chip on one CPU stuck together

What is it with Intel and doing that, they seem to have a wierd fetish about using two seperate dies.

i really dont know. They have a big lead on AMD at the mo and with AMD not bringing true quad-core untill Q1/2 2007, and going with this 4x4 platform rubbish.

They shud wack out true quad core as soon as they can and really stomp into AMD.
