What's the difference? Which one is better?

Hi guys!

I was checking these GPUs but can't find anything stating the differences between them. It seems they're the same one, the former more bulky and with two fans, the latter slimmer and with only one fan... but RAM, clock and all main things seem to be exactly the same.

Can someone tell me the difference and which one would be a better buy?

Thanks. ^^

You pretty much got it right. The bulky and with two fans will be cooling better and quieter therefore will be better to overclock.

I understand you are an Asus fan but what about this one?

Looks (and not only looks, judging by the review) amazing, I agree with you... however I'm not really an Asus fan, it's more a question of being able to get some brands much cheaper and without VAT, Asus is one of them while MSI sadly is not. :-(

I understand your choice now, I would become Asus fan if i was in similar situation:D.

Well then in this case I would go for the newer version with better cooler I guess, although I would like to ask Asus what were they thinking designing a single card taking 3 slots..

Who knows... maybe they were thinking about the people that like a HUGE GPU because for some bigger is better.

Just like italians in Rome who prefer to drive a SUV over a Smart, with the former you can't find a parking place and traffic is a pain but... hey, it's bigger! :-p

I agree with Junglerog, the gtx 580 lightning is very good from almost everyone's opinions on who's got them. I'm actually getting 1 in 2 weeks when I start my build and then a 2nd one in the future. They're worth the money for how good the overclock and how silent and the temps.
