What's the difference between these two?

Buying a new motherboard for my 3570k, and im deciding between these two:
Asus P8Z77V_LX
Asus Z77A

The price difference is minimal, Z77A being a few pounds more expensive. Can anyone tell me if there is any true difference? Also im open for suggestions, if someone believes Asus isnt alright.

have a look in the specs you can clearly see things like;
pci and pci-e slots,
usb point amounts,
different phase power config,
optical output
but bios wise they are the same by a quick skim

Oh, I was looking at that screenshot at the bottom with text, lol.

It looks to me as if the P8Z77V_LX has more to offer, and at a cheaper price. I have no idea how phase power works (4+1/4+1+1), but its better than nothing I guess.

Thank you.

its ok, and same could be a typo and maybe it only comes into higher OC'ing
but if the board does what you need then brill.

Do you know if I can use a 295GTX with it? It says that it only supports Crossfire. I dont know if I should consider my 295GTX "Sli" or just a Single-card...

if it only mentions Xfire then thats all it will support when looking at multi cards but it will still support a single high end card from either AMD or Nvidia as far as im aware.

Well 295GTX only needs one slot, but its a 2-in-1 GPU, so im not sure if that means Yay or Nay.

Have you looked at the Gigabyte Z77X-D3H?
Not sure what site your looking at for prices, but I've seen it as low as 649 DKK and as high as the mid 900 DKK

I'm not sure on the Audio chip on both boards (Asus P8Z77-V LX) as to which is better but the Gigabyte board has
  • Support for both CFx and SLI (Asus only mentions CFx)
  • +2 Sata extra SATA ports (8 in total)
  • Both have 14 USB ports but Z77X-D3H has 8 on the back panel, Asus has 6
  • 5 audio jacks, instead of 3 (if you need them)

Not to say that the Asus board is a bad board, I have no reason to say so, but it depends on the features you want/will use...as to weather the price is worth it.

good suggestion, i was just answering about the difference lol, am i right about asus not mentioning SLI means it probs does not support it'?

Thank you for the suggestion, it looks like a better deal. The reason I went for Asus is because my current mobo is an Asus from 2007, and I figured a 7year lifespan was quite impressive. I cant say I need all those extra plugs (USB, Sata, Audio Jacks) right now, but theres defo no point in paying the same for less. I also assume Gigabyte are good ones for OC (at least I've read they're very reliable mobos)

I figured Sli/CF meant that you used 2xPCI slots, two seperate cards. Since 295GTX is only a single card (with 2 inside it), it wouldnt really count as "Sli". Then again, I dont even know why a mobo can only support one of the kind. I mean, Sli and CF to me is the same - its having 2 GPUs. Why would two GPUs from AMD be any different from 2 GPUs from Nvidia? Surely theres is one, I just dont know it.

I'm not sure either, but I certainly wouldn't base my choice on the hope.

Price difference in the UK for the Gigabyte is £97 and the Asus P8Z77-V LX is £76, so there is a pretty big difference... your lucky in .dk as they are 649 :(

The nice thing about Gigabyte is the Dual Bios feature..... :D

Z77X-D3H -649

P8Z77-V LX -649

According to trustpilot they both seem pretty good sites.... so down to personal preference.

its more than likely the way they talk to each other requires set pci channels or something dedicated to each type, like come Xfire cards dont need a bridge anymore so its all going through the board and soon im guessing Nvidia will follow suit but i do love the look of some bridges lol. and with the 295gtx they are only talking to each other on the same pcb so there is not the same complications.

hope that helps

Haha, and me who always browse on alot of UK websites because I tend to find things cheaper, I guess for once im lucky. :p

Yes, both are very popular HW websites, especially MM-vision, so I worry not ordering from either. I've never worked with Dual-bios but the name gives it away pretty obvious. It will be nice having one default as backup. Thank you. :D

It does, since im going with GB Mobo I at least wont have to worry about it though. :D

They have to pay extra to Nvidia for the license if I remember rightly. Just had a quick look around and it seems a 295 would work, did think it would tbh.
