Haven't tried any of them, but as long as you don't have a lot of sunlight or artificial light
suitable for algae growth on your loop biological problems aren't really a big issue tbh. It's
not worth crapping your pants about.

If everything is working properly, then yes it will turn black. That's a good thing. If it stays
all nice and silvery then something's wrong afaik.

You should replace your coolant every few months anyway (well, I do, in any case), but I'm
not aware of this personally. Chemically speaking I see no reason why you'd have to change
the water when you change the kill coil, doesn't really make that much sense. The coolant
will dissolve silver ions out of the kill coil (that's what kills the biological things in your loop).
I don't see how that would necessitate a change of coolant when changing the coil. The new
coolant would just continue dissolving ions out of the coil, albeit at the beginning at a faster
rate than the old coolant would since the new coolant is not yet saturated with silver ions.
Aside from that, I don't know how long a coil will last, but I would estimate it to last quite a
bit longer than the coolant itself.
I've never personally used one though, so this is all just conjecture based on my chem
knowledge. If somebody with personal experience has other info which contradicts my
conjectures, I would recommend listening to them.
