What Thermal Compound do you use?

MX2. i buy in 65g tubes for £20 it has great cooling capability an 8 year shelf life and its not electrically conductive, i couldn't be happier

For gods sake people, it's NT-H1 and not NH-1.

That being said, i use the noctua stuff, but i'd like to try some IC Diamond.

Alexander Lee, AS5 is not conductive at all. Arctic Silver 5 is only capacitive. I myself use AS5 or Noctua's paste. I saw a 2-4 degree drop when switching from AS5 to Noctua.

mayonnaise :)
No, but last 3-4 years ive sticked to noctuas dunnowhatitscalled and mx3+4. Also have some zalmann thermal p. laying around but that is bad compared to the above.

Ok, I am going to be the weirdo here who uses and did something different.

I use Zalman ZM-STG1 and paint the entire chip and heatsink spreader plate before installation.

For anyone wondering why:
Last time I re-seated my heatsink I could only find that and some Titan stuff with a 2009 expiry date in my bits box.

Also the stuff is like nail varnish you can literally paint a 1-2mm coat on the thing with no difficulty.

I know whether the stuff is technically any good but since I got my i5 2500k to 4.3GHz I don't think I've managed to get the processor over 75C during any tests and I've only got a corsair A50 sink.

I use Titan Nano

It's really good for extreme overclocking with low temperatures and performe well with air and watercooling setups too.

I used Arctic Silver on my last build mostly because it was right at my local Radio Shack. Using Noctua NT-H1 with this build, though.

Arctic Silver as well as i had e few in stock...
but i have done the other rigs (for family and friends with Coolermaster gulp).

Silver 5 is conductive though - if you get any on your motherboard or CPU socket it will short out and most likely kill your board and processor...

Arctic Silver 5 is not conductive, I checked continuity across a drop with a DMM when I got my first needle, since this rumor is atrocious. The website will say it is very slightly (Quantitative Percentage would be nice) though, which means it may still damage components (remote chance) if placed across circuit paths. But with its long cure time, it is extremely easy to clean up, plus what kind of a hack smears it off the CPU and into socket and/or board.

But it appears the NT-H1 Noctua stuff is pretty popular, I will try that on my next build.

MX2 MX4 or NT-H1 I have them all it just depends what one I pick up!

My friend Noble Grunty uses the big kilo tubs of the white cheapo stuff,he doesnt buy into fancy TIM...
He was a great clocker in his day,HWBot toptens and everything....makes my laugh when he pulls the tub out!
