What is the Problem?!?!

Hey Guys

I’ve got a weird problem.

My System:

Motherboard: Asus p5n-D

CPU: Intel Q6600

CPU Cooler: Gigabyte G-Power 2 Pro

Stock CPU Speed: 2.4GHz

Overclocked CPU Speed: 3.4GHz

Memory: (4GIG-DDR2) 2 x 1GIG Kingston, 1 x 2GIG Transcend

HDD: (3 Internal) 2 x 250GIG Samsung 7200RPM, 1 x 2TB W&D 5900RPM

Sound Card: Creative 5.1 (nothing Special)

Graphics Card: Asus EAH5870 V2 1GIG GDDR5

PSU: Antec 500W

Case: Cm Scout

I recently purchased an Asus EAH5870 V2 graphics card. When I first installed it, it was running rather slow. I assumed that it was my CPU bottlenecking it, so I overclocked my CPU to 3.4GHz.

Once I did that I ran Furmark and saw that my GPU Usage was 98% - 99%. (Check attachment 1)(http://www.overclock.net/graphics-cards-general/821684-what-problem.html)

Then I ran Just Cause 2 and my GPU Usage was only 69% - 71%. (Check attachment 2)(http://www.overclock.net/graphics-cards-general/821684-what-problem.html)

My other question is what frame rates should I be getting with a 5870?

In Just Cause 2 I’m getting an average of 15 FPS. I thought that a 5870 should get like 55 FPS (http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/g...70_v2_review/5)

Probably a memory issue. You should be running matched sets. And the ram will always run at what ever the slowest stick is if you mix and match.

Its either driver based or a selection of the fact you have mixxed old tech.

The pcie on that board is pcie1 aswell.

Lots of reasons it could be tbh dude. On our system we run i7 which also makes a massive difference.

Id deffo try the ram for starters dude, you might need to buy some more tbh if Im honest its just your rig starting to show its age

well if you are not experiencing any noticeable issues with furmark (as in you see high FPS, good temps, and no artifacts) i think your monitoring software might be screwed up. as for just cause 2, just reinstall it, see if that helps. and msi afterburner never displays 100% on the 5870, 99% is as high as it goes.

my 9800gtx reached a 100% once

as tom said sort them mem out, there could be a bottleneck anyware fella

yea my 470 does to. i dont know why but it only seems as though Nvidia GPUs can show 100%, my 5870, 5850, 4870, nor my 5770 never show 100% only 99%. but my 9800gt, 9600gt, 470, and 7600gt sometimes show 100%. maybe its just me, but i always monitor that stuff when running furmark and i never see 100% on any of my ATi cards, just Nvidia.
