hey guys
im looking to w/c my 3570k and 7850 gpu.

whats the minimum i would need with regards to thickness of rad or number of rads?

thanks in advance
Devin

case info, overclock info, how long of a period do you use the system (folding?)?

such vague information can lead to mis-interupted suggestions.

a descriptive title would be first thing you need;

back to subject, the number and thickness of rads are not determining factors when you want to build a wc loop.

first of all if you got enough space for one, secondly where are you going to mount rads, will the air pressure be enough? will you have to get better fans such as noctuas.

how will the loop look like, draw a quick sketch and label the water flow, with estimated tempratures.

but most importantly give us more info if you want to be lazy and have other do the job for ya.

ps. hope doesnt sound too negative, didnt mean to be rude or anything, if you want some help you gotta put some effort of your own.

sorry guys Ive just been super busy working two jobs i didn't really think.
and don't worry predator no offense was taken.

case is a bitfenix shinobi.
the rad im looking at using is a rx 360 in the front which i know will only fit if i remove all the front bays completely which means i might try and modify the xspc 750l dual bay res and pump into a custom box to fit on the floor inbetween the psu and rad. also i might modify the front panel to mesh to increase air flow.
fan wise i want to use either the white spectre pros or the sp120 in push pull and i know they will fit since watching toms nurburgrig videos.
ill only do a small overclock on the cpu maybe 4 or 4.2 at the most because im not after massive performance. i just mainly want a quiet cool system.
i dont fold on it so it will be used for prob 4 or 5 hours at a time with some gaming but mostly a lot of photoshop and and fruity loops.
main question really is do i need to have a 360 rad for a 4 or 4.2 overclock? could i get away with a 240 and still get pretty good temps?

thanks for the help guys

RX360 is a start, but im afraid the 750 might be a lil weak for a dual block
rig. it might last a bit, but it will not stay alive long. mainly for a single block
loop. either the DDC or D5 would be what to look for in a pump with multiple
blocks.

you can get away slightly on a small overclock on CPU/GPU, but you'll have
to watch and regulate those temps. for testing use 8hr loop load to verify
temp stability.

Thanks for the advice dude.
Will any of those pumps work in a dual bay res or do they have to have a certain kind of res?

XSPC, AlphaCool, Koolance, EK, and any accessory manufacturer have some
in a bay/res combo or can be done seperately.

thanks for the help mate. ive checked on special tech and they say the x20 750lph pump is strong enuff to do a two block loop... so is the ddc just a safer option?

this is a follow up questions with regards to an idea i had a few hours ago and have been thinking non stop about it since....

would a nexxxos st30 all copper 120mm rad be enough to cool the 7850?

yeah, it'll do it for a bit, until the blocks make it work in overdrive. those pumps
were made for a single block.. yes, it'll do many blocks, but not for long..

a single 120mm radiator for just the GPU or for CPU/GPU loop?

ah right i see what you mean dude.
well the idea is using the idea of the ares 2 cooling.
basically i was thinking of having a 60mm 240 in the front in push pull then into the cpu then into the 120 in the rear then the gpu then back into res.

would that work?
im just thinking if i have the 240 in the front i can keep the top 2 optical bays to hide my hdd/ssd in

if you have no need to overclock, sure..

but any overclock you might as well look to the 360 in the roof and 240 on the
floor or in the front intake.

what case and rig specs?

Well i dont really have any need to overclock tbh. It was just something to play around with :)
Specs will be
Bitfenix shinobi
Msi z77a-g45
3570k
8gb vengeance lp blue
Hd 7850
Corsair gs600
Force 3 120gb ssd

So you can see with my case i have little room for rads which is i thought of the 120mm on the rear exhaust

IMO, single rad usage is a waste of time and money. they are kinda a bandaid to
what needs to be done.

your options would be to:
  1. mod your case to the nth for a dual 240 (roof and front intake)
  2. mod case for 360 in front intake (60mm or fatter)
  3. change case
  4. make a simple CPU lool and call it done.
to keep things simple a CPU loop with a case mod like Toms nurburg rig.
