What components for a F@H rig?

I thought 2600ks used to get ~40-45k PPD, did they drop with the SB-E release or are the WU's just really that bad?

The current WUs really are that bad.

If only AMD would release a dual socket board for 32 core/ 32 thread CPUs or something, tonnes of rubbish cores

While not 100% scientifically proven, my two E5345 are putting out the same PPD as a 2500K @ 3.5ghz on the same project number work unit.

I don't know the exact figure but I'd guess on a stock heatsink a comfortable overclock for the 2500k would be 4ghz, at which speed the 2500k would produce +/- 3k PPD more than the dual xeons.

I'd say a XW6400 or XW6600 with two quads is a decent folding rig for not alot of money. ESP when you consider the two 16x size PCI-E slots.

Yeah,it will be to expensive to make a setup with it,but worth 200k+ ppd.

I think...... my advice has been invaluable

Enjoy it. It's a smashing folding rig. I assume it didn't come with a gfx card that can be folded on?

The power supply is rated @ 650W, and it came with a Nvidia quadro 290 and yes it's the one you linked

And are quadro cards good at folding?

From what little I have ready aboutquadro cards, they can't fold. But I havn't been able to put it to the test.

Having just quickly googled the 290, even if quadros could fold, that one couldn't.

My XW6400 has a 585 (or something close to that) watt power supply and it's able to power the two quads, a GTX 460 and a 9800GT. So when/if you get the chance it will happily power a decent folding card.
