What can this run?

This looked like the best forum to ask this in. A family member just picked up a PC and wants to know if it can run games like Skyrim and Battlefiled 3 before he goes and spends the cash. I am not familiar with its components but figured you guys would know better what it could / Cant run and maybe how well.

CPU i3 3240
Not sure if it as a separate card or just a chip but graphics are listed as..
Intel Hd Graphics 2500

8gb DDR3 I believe if I remember correctly.

I highly doubt that will run any of those games at all. To put it into perspective a quite low intensity game such as dota 2 requires Intel HD 3000 to run at minimum. You could pick up a cheap graphics card though for £50 and it'll run them fairly well.

Isn't there some website you can go to and do a test, like a benchmark on your computer to see what it can play, I could have swore I came across something like that a long time ago. Maybe it was for a specific game, called something like, can my pc play this ( ).

That only goes off specs of your system

It's the HD2500 graphics chip that's holding you back to be honest, although depending on the resolution and the quality settings, you could probably get away a fair few things. I have a friend who's quite happy playing BF3 at 1366x768 at low/medium settings on an HD2500.

I'd suggest getting a proper graphics card at some point (something like a 7770/GTX 650 will do fine at lower quality settings), and you can pick those up second hand very cheaply these days.

Dude its not worth it if they cant afford a decent gpu they wont enjoy the experience.

you get what you pay for. it's like buying a cheap bangar and hoping you will complete the Paris-Dakar race.

ALWAYS think about what your PC to accomplish, for NOW and the forseeable future. a little extra spent now, will save you heartache and more money further down the line.

and like the others have said... on onboard HD2500 would struggle to play games that weren't released pre-2009.
